pete Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 The box looks vaguely Netgear-ish, but I'm not sure if it's a rebrand or a Samsung-manufactured product. Google's unhelpful and the only people flogging them are Capita at the moment. WLAN Controller WEC8050 For Small-Medium Sized Business | Samsung (Not interested in buying one, just curious since I don't associate Samsung with networking kit).
GuyJD Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 Looks nothing like my Netgear Controller but mine is 8 years old at this point so it's not unreasonable to think they'd have had a redesign by now.
localzuk Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 With the size of Samsung, and the fact they make their own processors etc... I'd be leaning towards them actually having built this themselves rather than a rebadge. However, like a lot of their more niche products, you can expect support to be appalling for it.
difinity Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 Google turns up a subsidiary called Samsung Telecommunications America which is pushing these. At a guess I'd say it's made by Samsung rather than a rebrand.
WifiWizard Posted July 17, 2015 Posted July 17, 2015 worth a read - Has Samsung Rebadged The Cisco WLAN Solution? :: Mark Julier – WiFi Blog
psydii Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 Maybe it is the other way around, and Samsung have always made it and cisco added their customisations on top, just until recently the samsung kit wasn't available in western script using markets? Samsung seem to be exploring branching into education and networking recently, their MFDs are pretty interesting, and this is the second time their wifi solution has popped up in my news feeds in the last couple of months
Mistert89 Posted March 20, 2016 Posted March 20, 2016 Samsung have some pretty keen prices, and they look like rebadged Cisco at a much lower price. Spoke to another school and their coverage was good and stable, and much cheaper than Cisco. Also much easier to configure
