Single channel was a nice way to fix issues with VoIP and roaming in the past. Since then amendments to the 802.11 standard (802.11r, OKC - not in the standard but widely used) which has fixed these issues. The issue with single channel is that it inherently causes contention on the medium and therefore does not work as efficiently in dense environments. Meru can obviously do channel layering (which requires additional APs/cost) or turn VC/VP (SCA) off and operate like all other vendors to try and scale for high density.

This is due to an inherent issue with Windows 7 only (Windows 8 will work fine) and certificate validation. Windows 7 does not like untrusted certificates when using PEAP authentication. The validate certificate box needs to be unchecked when creating a new wireless network. If you are seeing this issue often then it may also be advisable to buy a valid certificate that can be imported into the system to avoid this issue.

Absolutely correct. What is required is to ignore marketing, get eval equipment and thoroughly test vendors to your own specific requirements.

AES is always the recommended encryption method with WPA2 as it is stronger. I have also come across issues where TKIP can limit devices to 802.11g speeds. Let me know if changing this resolves your issues?

What encryption method are you using? TKIP or AES?

I have tested with Samsung Wifi in the past. Can handle 30+ concurrent devices streaming multicast video on the 3x3:3 model. (But WiFi has been around for years, so if you can't do this you shouldn't be in the market.) Only negative is that the control plane is still handled by a central controller instead of distributed intelligence (Aruba Instant, Airtight, Aerohive) and the product is still in its infancy and lacks some enterprise feature that others support. But price is always selling point
