Deloying Office 2003 SP2 by WSUS issues.

Has anyone deployed this and had any issues. I am just double checking for piece of mind really. I have had a few problems which are detailed in the thread below.

I know a few people have been having issues with the patch being declined by WSUS (as there's a newer one, but not available yet), but haven't seen anything like you mention in the other thread.

I find it easier to slipstream into the source and redeploy a room at a time with some of these more awkward ones.

Seems to have gone pritty well here, just got about 3 machines having a whine about it failing, probably wanting the original CD or they may be looking to an old server so cannot verify there legal status?? But appart from that it has gone fine.

I've never deployed a Service Pack, but I have successfully installed Office hotfixes through WSUS.

 

To be honest I would create an admin image, slipstream SP2 and any additional hotfixes, then either force or publish Microsoft Office in AD or alternatively install Office 2003 SP2 on all machines from a network drive.

 

Offline files can be disabled in Group Policy very easily:

 

Computer Config > Network > Offline Files

 

User Config > Network > Offline Files

 

I'd then recommend you look at Office ORK Tools which is handy controlling Office via Group Policy.
