[sims] Nova T6 - Printing Issues

Hello!

 

The HT has just come to me with a really weird issue, he is currently going through timetabling and printing individual teachers timetables off. When he did it this morning it printed fine however when he tries to do it now he gets "There is no default printer currently selected" To fix it he has to restart his machine, it'll work for about 20 minutes and then come up with the same error.

 

Any ideas?

Change the default printer on the machine and then open Nova again and it should pick up the printers. As to why it is doing it with that frequency, i don't know. We get the odd user have the issue, change printer in the AM and then it is OK all day. Cant find a reason why it happens either, one day its OK, the next it will occur.

Yes, this is a known fault with Nova and sometimes with FMS. No need to reboot just change default to a different printer and then revert back to default again and it fixes the problem.

We have had this issue for most of the timetable season with the timetabler having to reassign his default printer at least daily. Anyone know a more permanent fix of their own making or from Capita??

I am not aware of any Nova-T printing issues. Please log a case.

Try setting the printer up as a local printer connecting to a TCP/IP port using the IP address of the printer.

 

Phil, isn't it about time these ancient printing technologies were replaced! The version of Crystal Reports used by FMS is even older than that used by EMS, with the DLL files having a date of 1997!

@splattthcat We have replaced many of the frequently used reports in FMS & Exams.
