mdrabble Posted June 29, 2015 Posted June 29, 2015 Redesigning the network and have setup and configured new Server VMs. I have Kaspersky ready to install on servers and workstation but I'm undecided if I should install it on my servers. Reason being, is I am currently in the process ready to roll out SCCM 2012R2 and thinking should I install SCEP on the servers instead. What are peoples thoughts about this? Cheers
Steve21 Posted June 30, 2015 Posted June 30, 2015 Well I guess that depends if you already paid for Kaspersky etc, but if you're considering using SCEP on servers why not clients too? Seems odd choice to use it on one and not the other Either you're happy with its protection or you're not. We run SCEP on clients and servers and had no problems yet (touch wood! ) Steve 1
mdrabble Posted June 30, 2015 Author Posted June 30, 2015 Currently in the middle of changing AV products. Currently have Avira on workstations and Servers. The school had an issue with Avira as they had an outbreak and purchase Kaspersky with a 3 year license before I arrived. I've tested Kaspersky on one IT room and the IT Support desktops and I'm happy with the performance but I am not sure how much a performance hit the servers would take. I supposed I can always install Kaspersky and see how it goes and if needed, uninstall and install SCEP.
fairm010 Posted June 30, 2015 Posted June 30, 2015 I run Sophos on all desktops and servers, however on access scanning is off on the servers and they scan themselves at 5AM and 9PM as not to reduce performance.

john Posted June 30, 2015 Posted June 30, 2015 Given Microsoft's stance on AV which is they are not putting much effort into it and the Virus testing labs show that with them being low down the list of coverage if you have license for Kaspersky do it

mdrabble Posted July 2, 2015 Author Posted July 2, 2015 Did a bit of research on deploying kaspersky with sccm and found some versions of kaspersky have been known to remove sccm if installed on the server. I'm not taking any chances and keep SCEP on the sccm box and installing kaspersky on everything else.
