Hi all

issue thats gone on for a while but been ignored, but i want to get to the bottom too.

get this error appearing in eventvwr upon logon to any win 7 PC

Failed to apply policy and redirect folder "Documents" to "\\***-***-001\***\***".

Redirection options=0x80001211.

The following error occurred: "Can not create folder "\\***-***-001\***\***"".

Error details: "This security ID may not be assigned as the owner of this object.

".

This also happens on creating a pictures folder.

But others such as Downloads, favorites, etc are fine.

Thanks

SYSTEM has full access, as does my name, and the administrators group...

I haven't messed about much with permissions in the past, for fear of breaking more stuff than i fix..

Can you confirm what exactly it is you're trying to do?

From my understanding:

Redirect folders to a server path instead of a local one?

If that's the case, you could just use GPO's rather than scripts?

That's what they're designed for, after all!

Check these - Have you got the grand exclusive rights turned on? And/or and 2000/2003 options?

Those often cause the same error if it's not setup right. (Either both or both off)

It is done via GPO,

User >policies > WIndows Setting >folder Redirection

setting is basic

%HOMESHARE%%HOMEPATH%

but we get a fodler redirection error on event vwr as in OP

My apologies - I misread OP as a script!

Could you screenshot the GPO?

Just so I can get a bit more of a perspective of what's written

No Worries!

That can break it :) If you're using exclusive rights and getting that error, try turning on the 2003 option too. (Even if not using it), or disable both.

I don't think you want to have Exclusive Rights enabled IMO. It is default setting for Redirected folders but can cause issues.

exclusive access locks out admins from actually looking at the folder iirc its a pita.

id check the permissions against the MS document for folder redirection
