Germany vs France - No explanation needed here.... And the biggest eyebrow raiser, USA vs China! Japan are also through to the Knock-out rounds so we could be seeing Japan vs China if both teams hold on.

aworkc Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 I've watched quite a few games and I just wondered is it just me that feels the standard of football is really quite poor? There have been some good goals but I think when it comes to keeping possesion and passing the ball the womens game really lacks behind the mens game...... I'm not syaing this to start a big argument or anything like that I'm genuinely interested in whether it is just me or if other people think the same. I'd like to add I'm glad to see that it's getting some proper coverage as well
Oddbod Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 For the lack of keeping possession and passing, they make up with lack of fouls, bickering with the ref, professional fouling, arguing the toss, over celebrating a goal, behaving like spoilt children… The flow of the game has been much better… almost to the point that I watched a game for full ninety minutes… [emoji3] 1

Some of the passing has been atrocious and a lot of punting the ball over the sideline or into the opposition's feet. But at the same time it has considerably less funding and I think the sport is in it's growing stages after decades of neglect. International coverage is a good foot forwards pardon the pun. I have heard it referred to by the BBC commentary team as what football was like a number of decades ago before the big money rolled in and everyone became millionaire superstars. A number of the players are on wage not dissimilar to your average job, if not less. 2

I thought along these lines with regards to the latest FIFA game (which is due to include female teams for the first time) It'll be interesting to see what kind of stats they get, and where they are in line with other teams (league 2, some of the other minor leagues included in the game) etc I think it's going to be something they will find difficult to get right, without annoying certain people. Goalies seem to be the worst to watch IRL, they just don't seem to have the right technique for saves, point in question, the strike the England player scored yesterday. I thought the keeper should of done a lot better.

Wouldn't get too excited, it's already been announced that mixed gender games won't feature in FIFA so the women will be on their own scale when it comes to stats. Probably a licencing thing. I'd like to add I'm glad to see that it's getting some proper coverage as well Some of the football has been poor (this will improve over the next few years) but somehow it's generally far better than watching many of the men's games.

I know "Soccer" isn't as big as American Handegg but i haven't even heard anyone even mention the win, which is strange contrasted about the huge amount of pride with England finishing 3rd and beating the German team for the first time.
