leachim Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 Obviously from a legit site It is to activate a version that windows says is illegal Now I don't really need the software, only the product key I have been looking online and got a bit confused as to dollars and the us site seems to be expensive - I am from the UK Not really interested where it comes from as long as it is legit and cheap Thanks

Oaktech Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 In all seriousness, I would see if you can buy the same piece of hardware, damaged but with a COA for cheap on ebay, use the COA and scrap it. Otherwise you are probably stuck buying a retail copy of w10 in a few days time.
leachim Posted June 23, 2015 Author Posted June 23, 2015 Thanks, but would Premium product key work with Professional OS ?
leachim Posted June 23, 2015 Author Posted June 23, 2015 Good idea ! It is a Sony VGN FW21M Looked on ebay with no joy yet !

If windows thinks it is not legit it's likely this has been entered incorrectly. Otherwise you are probably stuck buying a retail copy of w10 in a few days time. It's a decent option. Don't buy from a website that offers OEM keys pulled from a decomissioned machine. This can get you into all sorts of legal trouble Thanks, but would Premium product key work with Professional OS ? No it wouldn't
jmak Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 Unless you can find a (legit) retail version on eBay or similar, you'll need to buy a copy of Windows 8.1 Pro. Professional versions give you downgrade rights. This page is mostly advice for OEM resellers, but it does include details of rights for retail customers too. You can still download a full ISO of Win 7 Pro from Microsoft if you want a clean install. Buying a new licence would also entitle you to upgrade to Win 10 at the end of next month. If you don't have any luck with @Oaktech's suggestion, you could do a lot worse than get in touch with @ICTDirect_Dave* who'll sell you decent PC with a licence for not much more than a Retail version of a new licence! It sounds like you've already found it, but the place to download a copy of the ISO is Microsoft's Software recovery centre *Edit: Who's replied while I've been typing this! 1
LeMarchand Posted June 24, 2015 Posted June 24, 2015 IIRC I've got a sealed box at home that I bought but never got around to using (went Win 8). Keep meaning to eBay it. Let me know if you still need this and we can negotiate.
