Hi All,

We're moving from Windows Server 2003 to Windows Server 2012r2 and currently run Successmaker.

Has anyone else made this move? Anyone know if it works, or had any issues?

Cheers,

Chris.

We're looking at doing the same in the future and I've been looking into this.

Apparently Successmaker won't run on Windows Server 2012. We got ours via RM but they no longer resell it and it is now offered by Pearson.

It will now be a hosted version. The problem is that it is basically an American product which Pearson are reworking for the UK market and it won't be available until at least the beginning of 2016!

I've spoken to one of their reps and their tech support and they basically have no clue about it!

We're now looking for a replacement!

I haven't tried it on anything later than 2003, but it should be easy enough to get it working on Server 2008 R1 32 bit. Later than that, not so sure. It'll still give you a good few years extra extended support though.

I had the same dilemma last year and in the end the School decided to stop using Successmaker altogether as the host Pearson offering was so expensive (relatively for the number of students using it)

RM did say that it should work OK but they couldn't support it as Pearson no longer were.

Hi I have been looking into this too. We were told 1.3 wouldn't run on anything after 2003.

RM do an upgrade to 1.7.2 but "We do offer upgrade licences for Successmaker however they are only purchasable with installation which comes to a total of £625"

This service includes project co−ordination and a visit from a member of our installations team to

install Successmaker version 1.7.2 your network. SuccessMaker version 1.7.2 allows the learning

system to be used on the Windows® 7 operating system and Windows® Server 2008 R2

environments.

Please note that no data can be migrated from a previous version of Successmaker to v1.7.2.

Anyone replace it with another piece of software?

We were put in the same boat as we upgraded our district to Server 2012 R2 and Windows 7 on the workstation. We have decided to go away from Successmaker and provide things such as Khan Academy and Manga High.

I had to upgrade our version of success maker when we moved it to a VM from its old 2003 based Physical server (when we went to windows 7 here it was originally 1.3, but we had to upgrade it to 1.72 which I think we currently are - we had the upgrade with RM at the time to allow us to go to windows 7 iirc as it was giving issues on the 1.3 version)

It is very problematic I found on a 64 bit server, I would actually say that it hated it and it caused many issues attempting to put it onto the platform before I just downgraded it onto a different VM and got the DB installation over and it was all up and running fine then.

It resides now with us on a 32 bit 2008 SP2 (Vista Level) server VM and that is what it will stay until retirement now, unless our school wins the lottery and upgrades to a more current version :)

Check the RM documentation on their website regarding issues as there is plenty of it on there regarding Server 2008R2 when I worked through it.

OK, So now my quest is to find alternatives for English and Maths to replace Successmaker, or maybe some suggested online resources.
