Oaktech Posted June 12, 2015 Posted June 12, 2015 You've surely seen some of the ridiculous places that pass for airports around the world? This is surely an ability which is going to sell planes!
jdoyle Posted June 12, 2015 Posted June 12, 2015 not sure if the inside is an airplane or a class room of the future
pooley Posted June 12, 2015 Posted June 12, 2015 An amazing feat of technology but would I wan't to be a passenger during a vertical takeoff? Bit like a roller-coaster.
Dos_Box Posted June 12, 2015 Posted June 12, 2015 Is that the new approved Dreamliner take-off technique to prevent them catching fire?
sonofsanta Posted June 12, 2015 Posted June 12, 2015 I'm flying to Florida on one of them next month... better wedge my carry on luggage in tight, hadn't I? Don't reckon I'll tell the wife what it'll be like
burnsyb0y Posted June 12, 2015 Posted June 12, 2015 I sooo want to fly on one of these purely for the take off now!
6Foot2 Posted June 12, 2015 Author Posted June 12, 2015 I sooo want to fly on one of these purely for the take off now! I expect that wis will be a demo flight to show what the plane could do. During this flight it has probably been stripped down to the barest essentials [No passenger seats, no luggage handling compartments,...] just what the plane needs to make flight. It's the safest way.
computer_expert Posted June 12, 2015 Posted June 12, 2015 (edited) Wonder if it'll get banned like it did at Farnborough last year... Edited June 12, 2015 by computer_expert
GRitchie Posted June 24, 2015 Posted June 24, 2015 In case you're not aware, they don't actually take off like this when they're actually used commercially. Think about the weight that will be added for a commercial flight: People, cargo, fuel etc. - this makes the gradient for take off much more sloped. Plus, camera angles helped a lot in this video. It's just a flight for an airshow, to make it look fancy... ...and yes, I'm fun at parties...
GRitchie Posted June 24, 2015 Posted June 24, 2015 I am, @Oaktech, I know that may come as a surprise...
