sparkeh Posted June 5, 2015 Posted June 5, 2015 (edited) So our admissions person kicked off the process to create a new academic year about 90 mins ago and its still running. Apparently it doesn't usually take this long. Our SIMS server is showing that most of the memory is being used by SQL. Also no one can log into SIMS now (just get a splashscreen that sits there). Our LA support unit tell us that other schools are having the same issue and just to leave it running. Anyone else experience this? Is it normal to take this long as I suspect there might be a problem. Edited June 5, 2015 by sparkeh
Steve21 Posted June 5, 2015 Posted June 5, 2015 We've had it a few times at old schools, always told them not to do that until halfterm etc Sometimes it just times out after a while though, and sometimes completes. Steve 1
sparkeh Posted June 5, 2015 Author Posted June 5, 2015 Well it took 3 hours but its done. You really realise how much people use SIMS when they can't log in :S
Steve21 Posted June 5, 2015 Posted June 5, 2015 Haha yep We had it where they first did it just before reports due, chaos followed! Since then, no term time playing! Bad SIMs manager bad! Steve
Sylv3r Posted June 5, 2015 Posted June 5, 2015 I've always found it takes a lot longer when people are using SIMS. I tend to dial in on a night and run it and it takes around 20 minutes or so.
sparkeh Posted June 6, 2015 Author Posted June 6, 2015 Unfortunately this isn't under my control though I will make recommendations for the future.
CAM Posted June 7, 2015 Posted June 7, 2015 Same here, ran it during half-term. The process flies by when you haven't got 100 or so users trying to access it at once!
