So our admissions person kicked off the process to create a new academic year about 90 mins ago and its still running. Apparently it doesn't usually take this long. Our SIMS server is showing that most of the memory is being used by SQL.

Also no one can log into SIMS now (just get a splashscreen that sits there).

Our LA support unit tell us that other schools are having the same issue and just to leave it running.

Anyone else experience this? Is it normal to take this long as I suspect there might be a problem.

We've had it a few times at old schools, always told them not to do that until halfterm etc :) Sometimes it just times out after a while though, and sometimes completes.

Haha yep :D We had it where they first did it just before reports due, chaos followed! :D Since then, no term time playing! Bad SIMs manager bad!

I've always found it takes a lot longer when people are using SIMS. I tend to dial in on a night and run it and it takes around 20 minutes or so.

Same here, ran it during half-term. The process flies by when you haven't got 100 or so users trying to access it at once!
