Any kite flyers in the house?

Currently I have a BIG BUZZ and wondered what the next kite to progress to might be that would fly in less wind and give a good arm work out

I get a lot of fun with my old Flexifoil Bullet 4.5m. It's a fantastic workout on the arms and can take you for a ride in higher winds. You can get some good air on it too.

 

I'm not sure what it's successor is as i know it's no longer made. My brother in law uses a Blade IV which is more powerful still.

 

I'd say they're your next target if you're thinking of something bigger/with four lines

Looking at their current range I'd say either the Rage 4.7M or the Blur 5.0M

Eventually you should aim to end up with a Blade V

But they can be a handful especially if the wind is gusting.

I couldn't give you any informed opinions about non-flexifoil kits I'm afraid. I've only ever flown Flexi, they're pretty much the best there is and the slightly increased cost is usually worth it

I used to have a Flexifoil Rage 3m and I loved it. I no longer kite but if I did I wouldn't go for anything other than Flexi.

I've flown a few kites, however found it far better to fly them outside with a light wind rather than in the house.

I built a kite buggy a few years ago and used it to tear up & down beaches in Lincolnshire and in big local parks. My 3m Flexi Blade was good but made too much lift for a buggy kite. I had 2.2m, 3.2 and 4.2m Peter Lynn C-Quads (still got the 4.2 I think) which were superb buggy kites, really fast and very responsive. Got over 40mph on a the 2.2 on a wild day at Pendine, Wales - it feels more like double that when your backside is about 6in from the sand.

 

Get a buggy and some traction kites, it's ace fun.

I have a board with some 9" tyres. It's terrifying tearing down a beach in strong wind!

There actually are indoor kites.

 

I suspect my kite stuff is about to become another a victim of my move and clearout.

Boards are hard work and easy to fall off. Buggys are easy and hard to fall out of. A 3m kite will be fun in moderate winds - and the hornet is buggyable. I hadn't noticed them getting so spendy though - nearly £400 inc lines & handles!
