iMac issue

Hello,

 

We have 3 iMacs in a suite of 30 that are not booting. It has a white loading screen and the bar moves about 1cm before just turning itself off. They are using Mavericks as the OS and are binded to our AD. They don't have a recovery partition so can't attempt first aid or repair disk permissions etc. I have tried to reimage it but that is not working either.

 

Any suggestions apart from "macs are rubbish"

Will it boot from an OS on an external disk?

 

That will rule out dodgy RAM...

OS has become corrupted, rebuild is the quickest and easiest thing to do.

Have tried to rebuild by making a bootable USB drive with Mavericks on but that doesnt seem to do anything.

Drop it from 4 feet. It probably won't fix the problem but it will make you feel better.

Could the local HDDs be Full on these 3 iMacs? This can cause the issues described.

 

I usually connect said iMacs to a working iMac using a Firewire cable, boot the offending iMac into thunderbolt/firewire mode (by holding down T on boot up). Then clear space if required using the working mac, as the other mac appears as an external drive.
