I'm in the process of building two new PCs for my sons (12, 14) nothing over the top but far better than they could dream of, they both have p3 at the moment so this will be a huge improvement.

I want them to have a wow factor with the interface and desktop I am using "objectdocker" to give them the MAC menu thing and I am trying "samurize" to make their desktops look cool as they put it, and I have bought them gaming cases for it all to go in.

I was wondering if there was any things people have used themselves on their home PCs and been inpressed with, you know the sort of things you can't use at work.

Also any free MMORPG that you would recommend at the moment.

If you mean like changing the Theme of the desktop, Boot screen, Log on/out screen then this is a good bit of software

http://www.tune-up.com/products/tuneup-utilities/

It is Paid Software but very good i used to use it alot myself, the software is designed to fix errors on ur pc and custimize windows, downloading certain themes etc, i do actually have a downloaded version of this with a keygen if you want it i can upload it for you.

very good and from what it sounds like exactlu what ur looking for.

Kind regards

If you want wow factor and a 'cool' look install ubuntu w/ beryl then add wine or vm software for the windows apps you need to run.

ditch the freeware windows tinsel gumph for xp, run a mile from Vista and DRM-hell..... and instead run ubuntu or buy an intel imac to run os x.

Sorry if i'm not being helpful i just calls it how i sees it.

I agree!

Failing that, tell us the school you work for and we can get some money for the BETT fund by calling FACT/FAST  (Assuming you ignore software licensing at work as well!)

If you brought 3 and only used 2 then you have 1 free and as the OP has to machines and only one license then he is breaking the law by using it on both machines.

Who the hell are you ? A copyright lawyer for Microsoft or something...

Let's face it 99% of people at school, college, UNI AND IT people (i'm not making any reference to people on here ofcourse ) have used or continue to use 'free' or cracked software. Don't be equating the use of this for personal use to other forms of illegal activity or piracy used for profit.

The strange thing is this guy is actually talking about software he's bought with his own money, which is more than can be said for most people aged 18-25...and yet you're still splitting hairs and giving them a hard time.

Take that broom handle from out of your backside already rich.

ok i am sorry i don't want this Thread to turn into an argument,

I only have the one license and yes technically your right about the law.

I have one license spare which i would be happy to send to edie.. and if you like the programme then i supose there no harm in buying another license. I understand that Edie does not want to spend money on software and would prefer the free or opensourse software but i don't think theres much to choose from from when i have looked i have found Cracked, Patched versions of the software and places where you can buy the software but not many Free/Opensourse.

So i hope that explains it a little more... i am only trying to be helpful and offer this license as i don't have any use for it any more.

James

P.S. Yes i do try and buy what software i can out my own pocket which lik you say is more than can be said about other people my age.

Sorry doesn't it say at the bottom of Tiny chimpboys postings that he's looking for work, rather than already employed.

Give the lad a break he's young, but keen! (Sorry 'tiny not wanting to sound patronising re your age etc)

TBH I don't play it - a friend tried to get me into it but I've got a bit sick of MMORPG's having gone through WoW, Guildwars and EVE. I'm more into 1st person shooters (BF2, ET-Quakewars, ET- truecombat elite) ATM.

(all of which run on linux via wine/cedega)

I would recommend guildwars though, I picked it up for £15 for a 'perpetual' license.

No need to say sorry chrbb, you was putting across a point.. i am young and my age should not make any differance but to some people it does unfortunatly :( (by the way that was nothing to do with anyone in these forums it was about all the employers who have interviewed me so far)

It was meant as a joke  - why can't they come up with forums that can portray body language and tone of voice!

And I didn't spot the sig, I'll go with the "tired" excuse.

Fair comment Mr Crazy - once my sons had explained to me what LOL meant, I usually put that at the end of my comments that I intend to be humorous just in case it's taken the wrong way!

Maybe it's because your sig 'Ethical Hacking & Countermeasures Student'

makes you sound as though you may be working for FACT when you leave uni. Is it a real course or have you made it up? Ooh sorry forgot the LOL!
