What temperature is your Server room?

I would recommend that everyone sets their aircon to 20-24C. You really don't want to have a massive temperature differential across the room, and the less powerful systems some have may be better able to cope with that demand.

AC removes moisture from the air, that's why in your car the AC demists the windows quicker, so as long as its running around the 20 figure and not too dry it should be fine i would have thought.

Air con set to 16, cheapo thermometer in the server room reads 17. I'm surprised the air con unit hasn't died yet.

Ok we had the AC engineer in and the AC is leaking gas hence it isn't pumping out the cold air.

Parts are required but apparently its quite an old unit.

 

My dilemma now is that until parts are found and installed or we purchase new and replace I have no AC in the server room.

 

What temporary measures can I use to cool the server room?

Turn stuff off.

Open the door.

Use a fan to blow air in from the outside and floor level into the room.

 

Or, and ideally: Portable AirConditioners - but you need to be able to vent them externally - talk to your premises team about that.

Thanks for all the advice. New AC unit in and working well. Temp on AC set to 18C and ambient temp in room is 22C.

2 large servers, 2 microservers, one desktop nas. cupboard 2m x 1.2m x 2m. No air con but fairly high volume extraction. Temp sits at a pretty constant 22degrees and 47% humidity.

We run our new air con at 21 and rooms is around 26.
