burgemaster Posted April 5, 2015 Posted April 5, 2015 Hi, Just wondered what you guys did for your students with mailboxes in the cloud for when they forget their password? DirSync if I remember updates Azure every 3 hours, so do you force a sync? Update the PW in the cloud and enable AD writebacks? Something else? Thanks in advance!! Ex 2013CU7/Hybrid/Office 365
FN-GM Posted April 5, 2015 Posted April 5, 2015 We have ADFS so its not an issue for us, so its not something I have looked into to much but I believe there is something else running in the background that will update the passwords without a sync. If i remember it will take 3 minutes for a reset password to get to Office 365.
MrFrostmaul Posted April 5, 2015 Posted April 5, 2015 We changed our sync with Azure from 3 hours to every 15 minutes as had alot of problems when it came to the 90 day period of staff password resets and they had to wait three hours to access their emails and cloud files.
rh91uk Posted April 5, 2015 Posted April 5, 2015 Some of our sites have reduced theirs down to 30 minutes for the sync to happen however my team's just force a password sync usually once they change a password.
Wubbalubbadub Posted April 6, 2015 Posted April 6, 2015 Our dirsync is set for passwords to be pretty much instant.
Bste93 Posted April 7, 2015 Posted April 7, 2015 We don't allow either staff or students to reset their passwords from within Office 365, they either need to change it on a computer or we can change it for them in AD. We initially allowed it until we got a load of "I have changed my email password but now cannot login to a computer" type questions.
