It doesn't need to be classroom management but it does need: Essential *Ability to shadow remote users session so that they can demo problems and I can demo solutions *Central management console to see who/what is switched on and connectable *Access across multiple sites *Silent operation non-user editable config Desirable *Remote execute *Remote command line *Remote Registry *Power on/off *Windows update status I've looked at logmein central before but the pricing model seems to have changed and is out of my price range. I am happy to put around £500 in to a perpetual licence of something, but as it will be coming out of my pocket I would want something very good for that. Impero is too expensive, and I don't want/need a lot of the features, and not sure how well it will work across the internet between sites. At the moment, I'm looking at intelliadmin remote control enterprise and thinking of trying out dameware remote support but was hoping for the opinions of others before I invest too much time in to too many different options. snagrat Posted April 4, 2015 Posted April 4, 2015 Not sure it ticks all your boxes but have a look at ScreenConnect. We use it and it does the job. Has an iPad app as well so can remotely manage PCs from that 2

nickbro Posted April 5, 2015 Posted April 5, 2015 System Centre Configure Manager does most of the stuff you've asked for and more. I use it for our primary schools. Since the high school is still stuck with RM for another few years (I so want to get rid of it) we use RM Tutor at the high school. 1

SCCM - I've seen a fair bit about this so a while ago, I looked at setting it up, but it seemed that just getting the prerequisites set-up was going to be a ballache so I just left it. A MS solution would be ideal though.

Russ Quick question @russdev, why does your support team as preference connect to customers via TeamViewer and not your IRM product? I've asked a couple of people and nobody really knows. We are looking at supporting our feeder primary schools and Teamviewer and IRM are just two of the options I am considering. Thanks

AB Tutor Control does this and is fairly cheap. Can someone who has used it, confirm how it performs across firewalls etc? You can always use these for free: AeroAdmin Chrome Remote Desktop These look like great free tools but seem a little lacking in other features. Teamviewer is great if you can buy it! Is it that good? Lots of people rave about it, but it seems sparse on features for the price. £439 for the basic one. I would really like to put it out through GPO but only the corporate version does that at £1700! I'm looking at ScreenConnect as mentioned by @snagrat and remote utilities. Both look decent, but need to test them. Any opinions on these programs?

You can set it so the end user confirms for you to view the screen. We moved from a system where this didn't happen to this. That way users are more confident they are not being watched.

Thanks It depends to be honest. An example I used TeamViewer most of time had a test version on my pc that is true of a number of people in support. Which meant would have problems due to it being a test version and that is the last thing I want when supporting customers? Other teams like support often because we are supporting IRM as well can cause a problem as end up running lots of IRM sessions on the same PC etc. To be fair, we have a number of tools as sometimes we need to work through them to be able to get some connection due to firewalls in place.. I see yes as someone else pointed out have two versions Ed pro - full fat and then IRM which also has out of bounds (aka like team viewer) remote support and some of the admin tools.

Deployed msi out through gpo to servers and workstations and really happy with it now. Previous versions of IRM where a bit buggy but I'm really happy with the current version. I have been using the product since first release so I've seen it develop too. 1

jon-senso Posted April 20, 2015 Posted April 20, 2015 gsk, if you expose the edu pro server to internet then everything except remote control will operate fine. Several servers can also link together for policies etc. We have built Impero Remote Manager for what you are describing though.

Having looked at Impero Remote Manager, AB Tutor, Intelliadmin Remote Control Enterprise, TeamViewer, Remote Utilities and Screen Connect, I ran trials of the Intelliadmin, IRM and ScreenConnect products and settled on Screen Connect. It serves the majority of what I wanted, is customisable and so far reliable. I have decided to have 2 concurrent sessions, but will normally only use one but that has cost me $600 (£400) and includes the first years major releases and 80% discount if I upgrade again in year 3, which for £80, I probably will do. Thanks for everyones help and input!
