Did it come in a annoying box which you hear the Intel sound when you open it, Or turn the lights on in the office and it goes off again...

 

We showed our year 7s who didn't believe that its a computer.

We went for the i3 4GB ram and 120SSD These are to replace 2 classroom (teacher) Computers.

ive got an i5 one with 16gb ram 180gb intel msata and a 2.5" 750gb drive at home (its the efs (extra fat size)version). Its more than fast enough for my needs (watching tv and hyperv)

I've got one in my drawer that does exactly that, drives everyone nuts

 

Was also working on some the other day and left one of the boxes open, meaning the sound went off randomly throughout the day like we were haunted by an Intel-branded ghost

You don't need to open the box - if the sun shines near the thing the noise goes off!

The box was entertaining for about 10 minutes and now hearing the intel noise sends shivers down my spine.

I'm still amazed that none of them have been nicked

Whats the rough cost of the i3 model?

You can pick a Barebone from ebuyer for 250. Add ram and hard drive and that's it.

 

They also come with the vesa mount.

 

We used our supplier (stone).

 

Overall cost is less then the SFF desktop with the same spec.

Got 3 here now - mighty happy with them as well, a few of the light sensors have been put in 'strategic' locations around the school

Fantastic little boxes for network monitoring screens. The publishing firm I was contracted to bought 24 of them for the Samsung flat panel screens they had fitted to the ceiling columns…

The annoying boxes pcbs got scavenged for retrofitting to the wheely bins… (snigger)

We attached one to our office door. Admittedly that got pretty annoying, pretty quickly. Then it appeared in my drawer after a couple of days off...

The only issue with them is if you mount them behind a monitor it becomes a bit of a spaghetti junction on the desk with all the cabling and then unfortunately there is a power brick too to hide!

I cable tied the PSUs to the desk legs, worked quite well surprisingly!

 

And to occur the mass of wires, more cable ties and shorter cables

I now got 1 in the classroom as the teachers computer and better. ( i got a happy member of staff)

 

Few bugs:

 

As above, Cables are messy behind the screen

Display port didnt like the VGA Spilter - I brought a mini HDMI and using both DP and HDMI to output to screen and projector.

Computers are quite good and we put our box in the fridge.
