Projectors, Filters and Lamps

Hello,

I don't know if anyone else is experiencing anything similar, however a lot of our projectors are flashing the temp light and/or displaying the message 'check airflow'.

 

We will go to inspect, clean the filter and it will be okay for a day, and then it will return to this problem and it shuts the projector off.

 

90% of the time, the filter is not dirty? Is there any reason as to why this would keep appearing?

Are the lamps close to their lamp counter limits? I think the lamps get hotter as they reach the end of their life. Also dust can get into the internals of the projector despite the filters so this sometimes won't help especially if they are old projectors.

Nope! Most are fairly new and/or have had the lamps changed! It's very peculiar....

Are they all the same model. If so, it could be a common fault on that model.

They're all Hitachi's that tend to have the problem, but they're not always all the exact same model.

Nope, all just standard mounts!

We had a projector mounted in a food tech room that was always really sticky from the cooking fat and stuff splattering on it- and it was getting in the air inlet. Couldn't have done the internals a load of good, which is why that room was always bottom of the pile for the projector refresh!

 

What environment are the projectors in?

Just standard English classrooms etc.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say they are Hitachi EDX12 or similar...

 

They get proper full of dust from unfiltered inlets and should be stripped and cleaned...

 

The more practical course of action is a compressor and a blow gun (don't use a can of air as the output is too cold)
