flyinghaggis Posted March 21, 2015 Posted March 21, 2015 I think the thing I took away from it was that most of those polls put me around the centre-left but the BBC's stated that would have been towards the centre in the 90's. So they're obviously hinting that in general, for whatever reason, there's been a noticeable move to the right politically in general compared to what we had 20-30 years ago. Mind you I'm increasingly of the opinion that the BBC itself should be disbanded as, whilst I think Government needs to keep tabs on things like housing, welfare and general amenities I'm not convinced the concept of a state funded TV station paid for by a fixed fee per household is particularly appropriate in this day and age. The downside of this of course is that it probably means Rupert Murdoch will take it over and replace it with God knows what so maybe I should be careful what I wish for.....!

On manisfesto comparison sites, like: https://voteforpolicies.org.uk/ or https://uk.isidewith.com/political-quiz, I tend to favour mostly Lib Dem Policies and then Labour. I've not found any complete fits though. Depending on individual policy I could be Lib Dem, Labour, Green, or even UKIP. Even then the policies selected rarely really reflect my views, more the best matches as of now.

Left and Right relate to State and Market, the term 'far Right' in fact are 'neo-liberals', far right really means pro-Market and has nothing to do with Fascism which ironically enough has its origins in left wing Socialism. The difference between red Socialism (Marxism) was that that was 'Workers of ALL nations unite' whereas yellow Socialism (proto-Fascism) was 'Workers of THIS nation unite'. Certain Eastern European countries under Communism were very Left wing (State control) yet culturally very 'conservative'. They might consider it fair earning, etc...

That's starting to sound political perhaps. It increasingly seems to me a choice between selfishness and selflessness. Shocking how we as the 99% choose what the 1% want us to. Nobody ever gave me anything, I had to fight to get where I am today and it made me a better man. Why should I be forced to lose some of what I rightfully earn to give handouts to people that will never grow as I did becausethey know I am forced to cut my wealth for them. They'll never have to amount to anything because their government punishes me for their laziness. I feel like the government just wants to cream more tax off me and if that's the case, I'll take my business overseas. I can hardly find any work because multi-billion pound companies are employing too much cheap overseas labour, replacing people with robots or simply not hiring as many staff in order to increase their bottom line. I can't get a customer service job because I'm overqualified but I'm in thousands of pounds of debt because of Uni, and a qualification that's worthless as companies want experience now. I feel like the government lied to me about education and it doesn't seem like I'm going to break out of poverty any time soon. Two sides of the same coin, depending on your circumstances and opinions.

BBC seem really wrong about my results because I've ended up Libertarian Left again but not too far off the centre. I'd say that's a pretty central result. Swing voter maybe?
