I got this last weekend... Have to say I have put in WAY too many hours already. The other night I went on to "just play for an hour" while my mrs was having a bath. Next thing I heard birds chirping and realised the sun was starting to come up. Worst thing was about all I had done in that time was mess about tweaking the road system.

Only annoying thing is that the parts of my cities where I don't plan anything and just chuck the roads down where they look pretty work perfectly. Then I spend hours planning out the perfect layout and it ends up getting gridlocked almost instantly. Also have a bad habit of restarting every time I learn some new trick just so I can use it from the start.

and its payday tomorrow, SIM games are my weakness...... and its available for Mac/Linux too so i cannot go o well not supported on my platform.

It SAYS it's supported on macs, but fair didn't want to play on my Macbook Pro... graphics letting it down. Something about not liking intel graphics and all macs have intel graphics...

unless you are a linux guy, then in that case, disregard the ramblings above.

My Macbook Air has the Intel 3000 , my Mac Mini has the Intel 5000 and my Macbook Pro has the Intel 4000 with an Nvidia GT 650 M , so hoping one of those configs will like the game.

Pro should be fine, it just doesn't like the Intel HD, so you'll have to make sure it uses the Nvidia.

The dead ends are caused by you joining back up in the wrong direction - the roads are one way, so you have to draw the new links between the junction and the existing lanes dragging in the right direction for each lane.

You can also select the "upgrade road" icon and then right click on the road to change the direction of a one way segment.

Sorry to jump in the middle of a thread - what's this game like resource wise? Just picked myself up a laptop and will be loading a couple of games on to it, but it only has Intel iGPU so not going to handle anything too intense.

SimCity 2000 should be fine either way :p

It won't run on my Surface Pro 2 - although others report it does but even at low graphics settings, it is a little slow.

The laptop I'm getting has a marginally faster 2.3GHz i5, so it may just be playable... Then again it's a couple of generations older so it may actually be worse in terms of GPU performance.

I found the little button in the top left last night and realised it tells you where resources are!!!

So I bought a patch of land and I am drilling for oil.

I'm a slow learner!!! :D

Hahahah! I refuse to start again, even though my city has many flaws. One annoying thing at the moment, I've had to start emptying a cemetery (built a crem next to it for ease) and now there are dead people everywhere!! I know you guys mentioned before that it was a glitch... it's well annoying!! I'm starting to just bulldoze the buildings with dead people in there to stop them from being abandoned anyway... good idea or bad idea?

Do not put too many oil derricks down, make one building in that industrial site an oil specialist. Otherwise you run out...FAST. It took 2 in game years for my oil and ore to run out when I placed down 6 derricks and 6 mines...so I changed it now to just 1 and its lasting much much longer. The rest of the area around the derrick and mine is just general industry.

I emptied my oil reserves ASAP and converted them to forestry. I don't know why they picked polluted ground to grow trees but the pollution is gone. :)

Also farmland doesn't need fertile ground and doesn't generate ground pollution so it's safer to put near your residential areas in small quantities. But it does generate more sewage and noise.

The only real issue with not building it on fertile land is that they will import a lot more goods.
