So.... after a bit of tinkering...

remade.jpg

And then traffic is surprisingly different!

remade 2.jpg

Right, so now, what the hell is this need for 'services'? Industry keep wanting it, so i've had to create a district with ore as priority? Halp.

I may expand, but i DO need help doing it. @CAM @featured_spectre HALP

Services for industry

Fire - and lots of it. For every 16 squares on the game, you'll need a fire station in your industrial park

Police - one should be enough here

Leisure - Statue of Industry is good for their

Transport 1 - Cargo train near by is an absolute must with dedicated access.

Transport 2 - Metro is a good idea for large scale transit of your cims too the city hub

Transport 3 - Buses is a good idea for ferrying people from the fringes of your town to the industrial park and back

Education - This is an odd one, because it says that it needs it, but in reality doesn't. Some mods address this (can't think which off the top of my head).

Power - Solar, Advanced Wind Turbine or Fusion plant...job done

Water - Try as hard as you can to replace sewage pipes with the treatment facility as your industry accounts for most sewage

Garbage - Give them 1 garbage dump and 1 incinerator per industrial park.

This should help your industry bulk up :)

Resolved by adding 2 fire stations, a police station, and.... the rest got sorted? :/

Also, why would i need treatment facilities? The sewage doesn't come back in, it' flows away from the city?

I wanted to do a metro route, but i have no idea how to place it. Does it replace existing roads? Also, whats the best order? Res - Com - Industrial? or Res - Industrial - Com? ????

Buses take SO long to plan, and with this city, and it's million one way and two way and 6 way roads, how do i go about it? Leave them on the main road to walk to where ever?

You'd be surprised what the tide can do...if you have too much water intake you can reverse the flow of rivers. Plus the output can ruin the cruise boats that come in leaving them with no tourists.

As for metro...they need to be next to a road. So plop one in industrial and one in residential and one in high density commercial. Then just plan routes from residential to commercial and residential to industry and commercial to industry. Never do all 3 in 1 route.

Buses should be plopped outside the metro.

Hitting near 4 mil cash but only 35k pop.... Hardly 0% traffic issues (using buses (1 depo with 1 route, my place is impossible to route)), and no major garbage or health issues.

I have no idea where to expand.

I'm thinking south, any ideas? Bare in mind, in NONE of the simcity games, did i expand. I had a perfect city, and that was it. I've NEVER done it. It's anti Sunny. Halp.

Also, appreciate all the help given up to now.

LOL in SimCity you didn't expand because you couldn't expand. :D

This is my city, it's a mess though and a new industrial area has since opened up by the airport.

I meant in the latest simcity!! Lol

Nice city, it really is everywhere and anywhere ay it?

Howd you route your train? Did you just say 'you go there' and worry about the rest after?

Every time I built a damn. I flooded my town.....

Lol.... did you check behind the dam to see if the land was level throughout?

Ie... if where you build the dam, the land is significantly higher, as the water builds up to that land level, it'll flood everywhere behind to that level.

Ive stopped with hydro dams, and now working towards nukes.

@CAM @featured_spectre

I EXPANDED!!! Its hard to plan everything though.... but im planning on having 1 tile for res 1 tile for com 1 tile for industrial.

Good idea?

EDIT: To show pics.

I hate using power lines every where. .. or am I being a little dumb?

It'll jump between roads/buildings, so as long as they're all close and connected you don't need them, only if far away connections etc :)

I managed to hit 100k population last night

My city isn't the nicest looking City in the world (or the best planned out) but it seems to be doing the job! I'll grab a screenshot later.

Sunnyknight..it is all about traffic management. Reduce your traffic = better influx of people. I have taken to building paths...EVERYWHERE. If you build paths all over, nobody takes their cars. A handful of buses, metro and trains, and job done.

Yeah but i bet your city isnt a total mess. I tried with the bus route thing, but it endes up missing all of the other roads in resi and office zones. Tried to drag other stops into there to compensate but the buses would end up looping twice or three times over dependant on the number of stops.

Im guessing for ONE route id have to plan it from

Resi - comm - office

Or

Resi - office && resi - comm

Bloody el. My brain is fried with how id have to plan this route.

I miss simcity and just plonking down bus stops. Lol

Metro seems interesting, had a go last night but i end up losing a large chunk of buildings which isnt nice, bu meh.

Buses should go...

Residential down 1 road and up the next....thats it. In 1 loop. Rinse and repeat for all roads.

They should cover almost every road, as they will then reduce traffic substantially.

Metro - should go from a main hub and some fringe services in residential to commercial, offices and industrial

Ta da!

My road networks arent the best and i do have a bit of congestion here and there but nothing too major. I've a load of buses, couple of train stations and a handful of metros to help ship people around the city though which did seem to help a little.

I did notice that my population grew loads when i stopped trying to cram people in so tightly! Keeping a decent amount of green space and making a few suburban areas really helped. Also, ive you're making loads of cash but arent growing try dropping your taxes, this should help convince people to move in. Mine are set to 10% for normal areas and 11% for high density.

I dont get it.

Do you mean...

The first small image or the big one?

First is 3 roads in residental closed loop.

2nd one is from resi all the way around the city back to resi.
