It seems if you want an SSD drive with a laptop you have to go for higher end models with higher end features. All I'm after is 4GB i3 a decent dual band wifi chipset 128 SSD 13 or 15inch. Anyone got any recommendations?

abillybob Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 My girlfriend has just ordered a Lenovo B50-30 from eBuyer and I also told her to order an SSD 240GB Kingston one, I re-imaged it too. All in all cost less than £250 and is faster than her dad's £1,200 Mac when using photoshop. He's not too happy.

Thus my "or add SSD yourself" part None of the prebuilt ones come in much cheaper than that Lenovo when I was last looking at options for here, which is why we looked at installing own SSD instead. 3s-gtech Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 Marketing wise, most consumers don't care if it has an SSD or not, but comparing 256GB of storage vs 1TB and the HDD will win in their eyes. Therefore, the manufacturers won't be fitting SSDs to budget models for a good while yet. 1
Danp Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 I bought one of these for each of my daughters for Xmas Lenovo Essential B50-70 Laptop - Laptops at Ebuyer They are great for the money, I plan to fit an SSD soon though as they are a little laggy getting going but once up and running they are fine. Plays Minecraft with no issues!

DarrenM Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 Recommend you talk to Novatech or Ergo as they can make you a custom spec. I was looking for this a couple of years ago but with Windows 8 the difference is not worth it. Windows 8 is like a free SSD in my experience. Pause wait for stock response. Yes but have you tried classic shell.
