Protecting your external Digital Signage displays?

Hi all,

 

Just got the go-ahead from SLT for an Xibo-based digital signage project (yipee!) on the condition that I research roller shutters for the external display to protect it from theft.

 

I can see where they're coming from- the screen will be on a brick wall facing a busy main road with a metal fence no taller than 2/2.5m tall protecting it. In my opinion roller shutters are overkill, given the enclosure has a lock on it already but I could see the value in a CCTV camera pointing at it and a warning sign on the unit itself.

 

So, what do you use to protect your external digital signage from theft?

I'd put it in a weatherproof (and theft proof) housing - not sure where they'd be available from. Sort of thing all of Alton Towers' flat screens are in around the park.

(I wonder if our reseller, who's on this forum, will connect the dots and realise we're going ahead with their quote )

 

SLT are a bit paranoid that even in the anti-theft/vandalism enclosure, it's still a target for thieves and want something to completely cover it up outside school hours/at weekends and holidays.

 

IMO nothing says 'nick me' more than something hidden behind roller shutters, but hey-ho.

 

Good shout about asking DT, but as we're a primary the DT dept consists of a class set of scissors and some hot glue guns!

Ah I see. To be honest I'm a bit too used to asking DT for favours. They make us projector enclosures with the vacuum former and laser cutter. They're awesome!

Nice! In my previous (secondary) school, I was able to make several trolley-unlocker keyrings to *ahem* test the new 3D printer. I do miss having a decent DT department
