This issue has been lingering around for a month, i have put multiple hours in trying to figure it out but I cannot for the life of me get to the bottom of it.

Our IT department wants to start using app inventor, thats not a problem there are plenty of good writeups here about getting the appinventor emulator to run. I cannot get the actual site where I believe they do the coding to run on the student profiles.

The address is http://ai2.appinventor.mit.edu/ and it will not load under student profiles. My first thought was that our external filtering was blocking it as I was able to access it fine. This is not the case as I have called them and double checked that it is indeed open on the student port (:8083). Then I considered our internal filtering, we use impero for web filtering amongst other things, I have uninstalled this and tried again with no luck. As far as I am aware we don't have any polices in place that would block the site or any elements on it.

Has anybody else run into this issue?

Thanks in advance,

Will

Could be that something is blocking the Google login page or part of the auth process on that side (probably due to blocking Google+ and similar) and it's getting stopped at that point before it even gets to the AppInventor site. I've ran into similar issues where we had locked down Chrome too much and they couldn't sign in properly to access the site.

All the students have gmail accounts which they are able to sign into fine, it goes past the generic google log on screen onto the screen lacking any style confirming that it is the account I wish to use after I click continue on my account it launches into appinventor, on the student accounts it goes to the blank screen. We are fairly lax on what kids can and cant view here so its really confusing as to what is stopping it.

Do you have any reporting tools on your web filter box? Might be worth doing a search of what hits the test user is generating when trying to get to the AppInventor site, might be some random link on the site to a CSS file or Javascript file which is being blocked.

We don't unfortunately, I have come to a partial solution though. Using firefox I installed foxyproxy and entered the port number for staff and tested it, this allowed access to the site, which is odd as it wouldn't do this though any of the browsers default proxy settings. But what is stranger is it then went through on the student port on foxy proxy. I logged out of that test account and logged into another (without foxyproxy) and it appears to be working on this one machine, I have no idea what I have done to remedy the issue on this machine but it isn't a convincing fix.

Hi, not sure if this is linked but I am having a specific issue connecting to the TinyWebDB from within AppInventor. This area is not my forte I have allowed the various URL's through the proxy but students after storing a value in WebDB cannot get the value returned. Any Help? Thanks?
