QFT. Two pints of Guinness is about the same level as a Steakwich in terms of nutrition and filling...ness. IMHO, of course.

For some reason, though, SMT frown on me bringing it in for a working lunch, despite my protestations of hygiene (no crumbs) and efficiency (can drink through a straw leaving two hands free to continue working).

Not to mention that Alcohol doesn't harbour any bacteria that is inherently harmful...

No inherently harmful bacteria... but it is poison. :p

"Peanut Butter and Jelly" is good...tried it when I was out there, but then it goes well with American bread which tastes like cake!!!

Everything out there is so ridiculously sweet, and the only place to get proper unsweetened bread is an artisan bakery.

@ZeroHour and myself have been taken to some places to eat out there 'Because the bread is to die for' and quietly inside I'm going 'This is Asda bread. Morrisons bread is much nicer. I'd really, really like some Morrisons bread right now'.

The meals are generally amazing, but there needs to be a bread revolution in the US I think :)

WARNING... TMI : I have some seriously smelly trumps going on this morning... possibly due to fish and vegetables for tea?? Or dodgy reheated curry for dinner?

Betcha blame the dog!

I've had that happen too many times when cooking ready meals or soup in the microwave and staff have turned it below full power for some reason. I'm still not sure why microwaves have any settings other than "defrost" and "full power", I've never seen instructions that say "set your microwave to 60% power for 3mins and then 40% for another 2mins".

Best snack ever...

Toasted currant teacake, with jam and Cheshire cheese*

*Can be any crumbly cheese, but has to be crumbly like Wensleydale or Caerphilly.

Has anyone on this side of the Atlantic ever been brave enough to try peanut butter and jam? Can't quite bring myself to do it, because I am a sandwich wimp

(cheese & jam is delicious though, obv. Just putting that out there.)

My partner lives and swears by it, I've never tried it so I can't comment but it doesn't look appealing!

I fear something may have been lost in translation here.

American Jelly is Jam but it has no pieces of fruit in it. American Jam has chunks. We call it Jam with or without chunks.

What we call jelly, they call Jello. They are not saying PB and JELLO!

You're right PB and Jelly would be just wrong, but you have already tried what they are referring to.

I only actually realised all that a few years ago, once I was already a fully grown adult*. I had always wondered what the appeal was.

If American bread makes the difference I might have to give it a go this summer on my holidays. Still not eating any of those giant turkey legs in Disney World though, I don't know what could possess anyone to find that appealing o_O;;

*chronologically speaking, at least
