ben22i Posted January 26, 2015 Posted January 26, 2015 Hi, We have a set of 30 Samsung NC110 netbooks 10.1" in a trolley. One has broken and I need to find a suitable replacement for £200-£250. I am struggling to find a 10.1" Netbook that I can downgrade to windows 7 with the correct drivers. Does anyone have any suggestions? We normally order with Misco but I was told that all the main vendors have stopped making netbooks now and only do tablets or laptops. Thanks
synaesthesia Posted January 26, 2015 Posted January 26, 2015 Pretty much stuck to be honest, very few folks do that size any more. However, I believe @VeryPC have something around that area though - can't remember, think it was a Classmate or something? 2
simpsonj Posted January 26, 2015 Posted January 26, 2015 Give @ict-direct a shout, they might be able to help with older kit... 1
rf600 Posted January 26, 2015 Posted January 26, 2015 Toshiba are bringing back the netbook, they were showing off the new kit at BETT, some of it is out next month and some in the summer from what I can remember think it was 11inch screens though.
VeryPC Posted January 26, 2015 Posted January 26, 2015 (edited) Pretty much stuck to be honest, very few folks do that size any more. However, I believe @VeryPC have something around that area though - can't remember, think it was a Classmate or something? We do have one actually. Specifically designed for education, the Classmate Netbook: https://www.very-pc.co.uk/products/laptop/classmate-netbook https://shop.very-pc.co.uk/laptop/classmate-netbook/classmate-netbook-nb Webshop prices are RRP, for an education quote drop an email to or call 0845 0345 017 or 0114 321 8609 for a quotation. Cheers, Al EDIT - corrected the product (in my haste I originally mentioned a 2-in-1 device, not netbook) Edited January 26, 2015 by VeryPC
ben22i Posted January 26, 2015 Author Posted January 26, 2015 We do have one actually. The previous model went end of life so we had to de-list it, but the new version is now available. Terra Pad 1061 PDF sheet here: This will be listed on our webshop soon, but for now drop or call 0845 0345 017 or 0114 321 8609 for a quotation. Cheers, Al Thanks for the replies guys I am looking for a netbook though, not a tablet...
VeryPC Posted January 26, 2015 Posted January 26, 2015 Thanks for the replies guys I am looking for a netbook though, not a tablet... Sorry @ben22i I realised this immediately after posting and hastily corrected, but you beat me to it! See above for the corrected info. Al
ben22i Posted February 11, 2015 Author Posted February 11, 2015 I have found an Asus X200MA for £199. Available from PC world and downloadable to windows 7 (64-bit). Had to compromise on the screen size though at 11.6". The students will all be fighting for this one I guess!
3s-gtech Posted February 11, 2015 Posted February 11, 2015 A little north of that cost, but worth looking at ICT Direct's X220 http://www.ict-direct.co.uk/mobile-computing/laptops/lenovo/lenovo-x201-refurbished-core-i5-notebook-9575.html This is a proper laptop in netbook form factor - massively more powerful, more storage, tougher. It's an option anyway. We own a large number of Lenovo X series 11.6" laptops, they've been awesome. 1
ben22i Posted February 11, 2015 Author Posted February 11, 2015 Hmm, that really isn't a bad price. My school do seem to be a little funny about buying refurbished though, mainly due to the warranty... which is a shame as it could be a massive cost saving. Although I noticed you can get the 12 and 24 month RTB. I haven't purchased the other one yet so will consider this. Thanks.
Tesla Posted February 11, 2015 Posted February 11, 2015 @ict-direct 's customer service is second to none. Just gonna add that to the mix. 1
ICTDirect_Dave Posted February 11, 2015 Posted February 11, 2015 You guys are lovely, doing my job for me like that! @ben22i drop me a PM if you want to talk options. We aim to change your perspective with regards to refurbished hardware, and our customer service and warranties will hopefully help sway opinion. The kit is rock solid and we do try and fix any issues quickly and with minimal fuss. FYI our laptops are all available with 12 or 24 month warranties, desktops come with 24 month as standard and 36/60 month options, monitors are 24 month with 36 month option and servers are a flat 24 month. We'll look after you outside of warranty also by providing you access to low cost components should you have a failure and no longer have cover.
witch Posted February 11, 2015 Posted February 11, 2015 We are buying 70 Lenovo 11e 11.6" netbook-like things. Saw them at BETT - very robust Personally I would go for refurb but the boss wants the new shiny shiny whilst he has the money
ben22i Posted March 11, 2015 Author Posted March 11, 2015 (edited) Just thought I'd update this.... we ended up buying the Asus X200MA from PC World Business for £165. It is an 11.6" so it is bigger than I wanted but it was a good price. Downloadable to windows 7 with 64-bit drivers. Edited March 11, 2015 by ben22i
