unixman_again Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 I've had 10 days off and I seem to have forgotten everything that I knew about computers. This morning, I could remember my password but not my user id, and there was nobody in the office who could look it up for me. I've only been here three years. When I eventually logged on, I updated my holiday sheet and emailed it to the boss. I managed to update it fine, but I sent him the wrong file three times (my appraisal, last years holiday sheet, and then the sample sheet). I'm not even sure that this will appear on edugeek! I hope this isn't a portent of the new year. I think I'll gave another cuppa and a ginger nut.
Miscbrah Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 That's because you put linux on it, silly boy...
featured_spectre Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 This tech needs coffee. stat. http://files.shroomery.org/files/12-43/116134339-coffee.jpg
sonofsanta Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 I feel your pain. I had to open KeePass to get a password to do an update yesterday. The login prompt came up and I just sat there, staring blankly, completely at a loss for how I should get in. Having trouble with my keyboard today; I like the split ergonomicalnessosity of it, but it's taking a bit of getting used to again after two weeks away.
Oaktech Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 Yup... First holiday since starting my term time contract. Longest I've been off since I took 3 weeks off in 2005. Logged in with wrong username this morning and wondered where my profile had gone. (I have an admin username and a normal username) This is not a good sign.
plexer Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 I hope this isn't a portent of the new year. I think I'll gave another cuppa and a ginger nut. You what now? Ben

Ben LMGTFY (because there was no way my brain was going to process words like that this morning) por·tent (pôr′tĕnt′) n. 1. An indication of something important or calamitous about to occur; an omen. 2. Prophetic or threatening significance: signs full of portent. I'm going back to sleep.
strawberry Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 Have you been promoted and forgotten about it by chance?.
mole Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 seems like my computer also forgot how to work, taken 2 hours for it to sort itself out.
Meldrew Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 I found myself unable to figure out how to use a pen this morning, even lower tech problems. Meldrew
