I like the shiny oyster card though...

OMG SO EXCITED!

Did you know it's just a chip and a wire inside plastic...

Apply a bit of heat and you can extract the part that actually does something... and transplant it into whatever you want.

Like a rubber duck.

Well I am going up on Friday...

...will @VeryPC be frequenting the same place as last year?

@BKGarry Several members of the team will be round and about throughout the show. We're just sorting who's going on which days and will publish our schedule soon. It will be a similar set up to last year, yes.

Can someone help me, I am going up Thursday evening and coming back Saturday evening as I'm spending a day out in London, but just wondering how much should I put on an oyster card if I order one? Will £15 do me or is that to little?

Do you have a credit or debit card that you can use contactless (It has the little radar symbol on it)? If so, I wouldn't bother with an Oyster card, just use your contactless card and TfL only charges you up to the cost of a one day travel card.

Itf you don't have a contactless card, an Oyster card is good, and easy to top up... so don't worry if you don't put enough on to start.

It is impossible to know how much is enough withiut knowing where you are staying and what you intend to do in the evenings, etc as costs vary as you cross TfL zones.

Nope plain old boring card. I wouldn't trust the contactless payment anyway, just freaks me out a little tbh. But thanks for the advice with topping up the card etc. Can I use the oyster card on the busses as well?

Yes you can. Buses don't accept cash any more in London. You must use oyster or contactless

I've never used one but I think if your journeys are under 30 minutes it's £2 for the whole day. So take it out, find a docking station, dock out again, if you follow my drift.

Cycled from mine (SE11) to Canary Wharf often, can't imagine this will be much different.

Might cycle actually, thinking about it.

No borris bike docks that side of London we are a bit to ghetto still in the East and South East.

Ah, have my own bike so not a problem on that end. In no rush to decide but my goal in 2015 is use TFL/public transport as little as possible. As of now I've spent £4.80 on two singles to play football every Monday, so not bad so far.
