elsiegee40 Posted December 11, 2014 Posted December 11, 2014 Mine says CEO of Microsoft..... it dosen't. But I wish I'd of put something else in a more senior position now rather than Network Manager maybe 'Head Puppy Distributor' or 'Tea Girl' Ah well you live and learn. Like I said @billybob... a senior title is a mixed blessing. Something incomprehensible or junior is better for keeping the number of sales phone calls to a minimum afterwards. You can always use another email address to get a second badge. And you can change the details on your registration. Badges aren't printed yet.
scotyboy56 Posted December 12, 2014 Posted December 12, 2014 Whilst there is already a lovely thread with loads of BETT goers open, does anyone know of cheap/decent places to stay in London? (Not a Hostel though) Thanks Also if there is some edugeekers party on the Thursday night or Friday night let me know as I will be in London for both those nights :)
ICTDirect_Dave Posted December 12, 2014 Posted December 12, 2014 Whilst there is already a lovely thread with loads of BETT goers open, does anyone know of cheap/decent places to stay in London? (Not a Hostel though) A lot of the Edugeekers who're manning the stand will be at the tower gateway travelodge I believe. Great location, and cheaper than most. Also if there is some edugeekers party on the Thursday night or Friday night let me know as I will be in London for both those nights :) We normally gather most evenings for drinks/food so you'll be unlucky not to get a chance for a few drinks. Last year The Minories was the pub of choice, in no small part due to the excellent burgers, real ales and many screens showing sport.
HTCPCP Posted December 12, 2014 Posted December 12, 2014 My boss registered me this year, and he must have been unwell or something, either that or was trying to get me to do something... Got my stickers ready to prevent unwanted scans too! Just waiting for the pack to arrive and the phone call from a former NM who now works in the front office to challenge us on it!

There's a German themed restaurant nearby under one of the railway bridges that looks of interest. Also a good pub opposite showing football and a paddle full of meat.

Dos_Box Posted December 12, 2014 Posted December 12, 2014 Me too, though you perhaps had enough last time Until she's had a few Mojitos Basically my route too, except i get on the train to Euston at Preston You're miles away from us this time! I'll have worked off enough calories for an extra pizza by the time i get over to you. Just seen where your stand is. At least you won't have a 10 mile hike each morning once you get in the door!
ICTDirect_Dave Posted December 12, 2014 Posted December 12, 2014 (edited) Just seen where your stand is. At least you won't have a 10 mile hike each morning once you get in the door! True, but it's going to be a looong walk to the little door at the back for a smoke! Edited December 12, 2014 by ICTDirect_Dave Accidental double posting
Otter Posted December 12, 2014 Posted December 12, 2014 Can't wait to come across the pond again, and visit all the stands, including edugeek, of course. 2
abillybob Posted December 12, 2014 Author Posted December 12, 2014 Can't wait to come across the pond again, and visit all the stands, including edugeek, of course. Wow didn't realise people travel that far to go to BETT!!
featured_spectre Posted December 12, 2014 Posted December 12, 2014 I have been like 4 times but never visited the Edugeek stand...shameful I know, I will this year though!! Also going to visit the NS-Optimum stand Sign up with the prime ministers address and details...Mr D Cameron, 10 Downing Street...lol....that would be nice!
Otter Posted December 12, 2014 Posted December 12, 2014 Wow didn't realise people travel that far to go to BETT!! World's largest ICT show will attract all kinds of riff-raff, even from the colonies. Plus I think I'll drop off those coffee flavoured chocolates again if I remember, they seemed to go over brilliantly.

Brimstone Posted December 12, 2014 Posted December 12, 2014 Having been attending BETT on various stands for the last 5 years I might just make the trip to come and see you all. That's as long as you don't mind someone with an Apple badge on your stand....
Little-Miss Posted December 15, 2014 Posted December 15, 2014 Having been attending BETT on various stands for the last 5 years I might just make the trip to come and see you all. That's as long as you don't mind someone with an Apple badge on your stand.... We'll let you off....maybe
foofighterjim Posted December 15, 2014 Posted December 15, 2014 So it looks like I will be there on the Wednesday or Thursday (possibly both). Looking forward to Edugeek pizza, saved my life last year after misplacing my wallet!
Brimstone Posted December 15, 2014 Posted December 15, 2014 We'll let you off....maybe Well as the Apple stand will be the biggest one this year might be hard not to miss......
ICTDirect_Dave Posted December 15, 2014 Posted December 15, 2014 (edited) Well as the Apple stand will be the biggest one this year might be hard not to miss...... Is this stand F140? That's only a mere 210 Sqm. Intel's currently the biggest at 272 Sqm Edited December 15, 2014 by ICTDirect_Dave
abillybob Posted December 15, 2014 Author Posted December 15, 2014 Well as the Apple stand will be the biggest one this year might be hard not to miss...... "Here come the Apple giants" Oh god, I wonder how many more of the schools non-technical staff they can fool to buy into more of their stuff at BETT. Must be an amazing big sales opportunity Please take that with a pinch of salt, just a bit of playful banter. Apple isn't ALL that bad.
nyiss Posted December 15, 2014 Posted December 15, 2014 New Head came and asked me to go before I could beg/plead/offer my soul to. I played it off cool though like I hadn't been preparing my speech on why I should be allowed since the end of BETT last year. This year will be the year I actually pluck up the courage to have a conversation with you scary bunch instead of just hot footing it away from the stand with my lanyard
AJWhite1970 Posted December 15, 2014 Posted December 15, 2014 Broke my EduGeek duck last year when I stopped by for a chat and a lanyard This year I may be even braver and pop round when the pizza's been delivered. At BETT Thursday, Friday and Saturday this year and not going home until Sunday night. Hotel booked and paid for by the school for 3 nights, all I pay is travel (thanks to £1 Megatrain tickets...) Andrew

X-13 Posted December 15, 2014 Posted December 15, 2014 Broke my EduGeek duck I'm guessing there was a massive bill.
