Patrick Posted December 11, 2014 Posted December 11, 2014 (edited) OK, so most of my schools have been changed over to O365 and the migration went well. Then all of a sudden in the past few days some email accounts at different schools are not receiving emails. The offending accounts still receive internal emails. So i'm betting they have screwed up some DNS settings. Who else is having similar issues? Edited December 11, 2014 by Patrick
Mark182 Posted December 13, 2014 Author Posted December 13, 2014 (edited) Either I’ve logged in to early and everything has not copied over but I’ve not subfolders in my inbox Edited December 13, 2014 by Mark182
Boredguy Posted December 13, 2014 Posted December 13, 2014 Click More and you will see your actual mailbox folders, and not just the favourite ones 1
Mark182 Posted December 13, 2014 Author Posted December 13, 2014 Ha, Easy when you know how. now I've spent a few with it. All is good. Cheers.
browolf Posted December 13, 2014 Posted December 13, 2014 Ours was done on wed night. Accounts were created first and mailboxes migrated later. Initially our groups didn't transfer but they've sorted that out. There's some other problems they're looking into. Accounts created since September didn't come with initial passwords but I got my account elevated to admin and it's really easy to change passwords. Much better than county's old system. For our ipads we had to tether to 3G to get the owa app to configure. Outlook doesn't work, we thought it would. I tried to copy my user area to onedrive and it created lots of folders but didn't transfer any files. :-( not sure how well the builtin logins of office 2013 work. So it hasn't been totally smooth so far but the 0365 team at bt lancs are on point and doing their best to resolve the problems.

Don't worry, it caught a lot of our staff out as well when the Groups feature got introduced and all their Inbox folders suddenly "disappeared" as it changed the side bar view. At least you can click the Pin to keep the expanded inbox view as default when you login. 1

Yeah, I went to a site visit to another school last week and it did not go well for them. I’m not looking forward to Monday but once people get used to the change it’ll be much better for us than what we were on before. Edited December 13, 2014 by Mark182
Mark182 Posted December 15, 2014 Author Posted December 15, 2014 Anyone care to guess out of over 200 staff users how many of them made a note of their temp password? (despite multiple reminders)
witch Posted December 15, 2014 Posted December 15, 2014 I kept mine on a spreadsheet as I knew they wouldn't remember!
Mark182 Posted December 15, 2014 Author Posted December 15, 2014 One you! Ha! no, not me. So far we've had 24! Arh, going to be a long day.
sted Posted December 15, 2014 Posted December 15, 2014 I kept mine on a spreadsheet as I knew they wouldn't remember! doset it email you the temp passwords when you create the accounts or is that only individual ones (its been a while since I batch added any accounts)
ChrisH Posted December 16, 2014 Posted December 16, 2014 How's this working with admin accounts then? The Head's account is an admin but can't create new admins and all the distribution lists are owned by an account called "admin" whose password cannot be reset, so I can't edit them..... Is there some finalisation to happen with the admin side?
ChrisH Posted December 16, 2014 Posted December 16, 2014 Oh and I just confirmed all our distribution groups will only accept email from an internal email which messes up a lot of our group emails.

Is there some finalisation to happen with the admin side? We are the same. Been told we have to recreate all distribution lists again within office 365 to add to them. We are having issues delegating rights from Head@ and itcoord, I've logged a ticket....

Is there some finalisation to happen with the admin side? It's tiered administration just like lightspeed as far as I'm aware, BTLS have full admin and Itcoord/Head/Bursar are delegated admins with access to things like users etc. You should be able to create new distribution groups by going into Admin -> Exchange -> Groups. It's a bit messy.
Boredguy Posted December 16, 2014 Posted December 16, 2014 Oh and I just confirmed all our distribution groups will only accept email from an internal email which messes up a lot of our group emails. You can change that option to accept external mail. Go to Office 365 Admin and then Admin-> Exchange Go to Groups and find the offending entry and double click on it. Click on Delivery Management, and select "Senders inside and outside of my organization" and then Save

Valsh Posted December 16, 2014 Posted December 16, 2014 (edited) Tried, have a look at this Yeah sorry, I should have been a bit clearer, the only accounts that can make other accounts admin within your site are the ones owned by BTLS and BFC(The vendor they used for this whole migration process). We haven't had the need to setup more than one as I'm managing all email accounts, but perhaps it's worth logging a call and asking them what the deal is. The old lancsngfl system was limited to only being controlled by the itcoord address wasn't it? Edited December 16, 2014 by Valsh

Click on Delivery Management, and select "Senders inside and outside of my organization" and then Save Even with the Head's account you can only see the groups you belong to so can't change it unfortunately. It will be the way it's currently set up but I will remember that for new groups.
ChrisH Posted December 17, 2014 Posted December 17, 2014 Is access to smtp.office365.com blocked? I'm trying to setup a mail relay for MFPs etc and I've had no luck. I have tried testing through powershell and finally I configured a VM as an IMAP client but it just wouldn't connect to send a test message. The local firewall is letting the traffic through as the firewall rules do not need changing from the old setup as the ports are the same and I wasn't restricting it to a single mail server destination. Anyone else having any issues like this on CLEO? Hard to diagnose these faults when you can't ping externally!
snagrat Posted December 17, 2014 Posted December 17, 2014 Is port 587 open as that is needed whereas before it may have been port 25
ChrisH Posted December 17, 2014 Posted December 17, 2014 Always used 587 on our old mail system so all the rules are already there and the firewall confirms the traffic is leaving as it has been on that port for years to the county smtp server.
