Hi All

 

We are about to replace a room of old RM Ones PC so I need a suitable replacement.

 

We have a Stone AIO on load plus a NUC and they seem very good. I have also been quoted for a Dell Optiplex 3030 and the RM Ones which are now made by Zoostorm.

 

Has anyone had any experience on the first 2 that they could share or suggest another well known supplier?

They take standard-size motherboards, harddrives and CD/DVD drives, so you could replace the innards and get new PCs. Obviously you wind up with the same monitors, and I seem to remember the power supplies being an odd size and possibly prone to conking out, so you might want to refurbish them to go somewhere else in your school after you replace your current suite, and keep a few spare just for the power supplies / monitors.

Yeah the PSU's aren't really man enough for a lot of modern mainboards and tbh its not going to work out an awful lot cheaper to do it ourselves - plus all the manufacturers have 3 or 5 year warranties. We will keep a few back for spares and the rest sent for recycling.

I just looked at your website - why didn't you have them last time I was buying!

 

We have a suite of the Stone AIO and, sorry Colin, they are very, very nice. As are the the Stone NUC's. As always Novatech do similar (the same?) NUC's as Stone. Aaaand, yes Colin ;), VeryPC are more than worth a look.

 

Shame I got to wait till the summer before I can look at those AIO's :(

I'm sure I have read somewhere on here that Very PC do an AIO. Maybe I should make contact with them if anyone has their details. Obviously it a prerequisite that all our suppliers have at least one person who supports the best football team in the country :-)

@VeryPC_Colin_M you will have to send me an AIO to sit next to my iMac on my desk to give a true opinion on them ;-)

 

But you cannot fault the VeryPC customer service at all :-)

 

No contest chief! My VeryPC Glide AIO would give your iMac a gentle slap across its mighty fine webcam, kiss it on the left speaker and then slap it again.

We had 60 of the Stone AIO's in the summer. I think they are well thought out and like the look of them. Response of staff and students to them has been good. However, we have had issues with 10 of them since July, which is a high failure rate. 2 heat sinks not fitted properly, 3 motherboard failures, 2 hard drives, one dodgy power button, just from memory, without checking our helpdesk. We also had 3 missing mice and/or keyboards from the boxes on delivery. Whilst all have been fixed under warranty, their response has not been as good as it used to be (we are a long standing Stone customer) and they clearly had/have some quality control issues. Might just be a bad batch, but it would make me think twice about buying any more.

The Intel NUCs are really fast with an SSD and 8gb of RAM. Just low on USB's etc

 

Depends which one you get! Our standard NUCs can have up to 2 x USB 2.0 (internal header) + 2 x USB 3.0 on the front and 2 x USB 3.0 on the back :) There's other options too - NUC | Desktops | Stone Group

We have brought into several stone AIO'S for around our school, and the staff are very impressed with the quality of the build, I would recommend these, get them custom made

Our specs are as follows

240 SSD - it flys through any build stages in hours and doesn't take a whole day like the old RM ones,

8GB ram

And I5 processors

 

Brilliant! Not had a problem since

 

Obviously if your buying bulk for a Ict suite the spec doesn't need to as high but they are great machines.
