Hmmm, now I feel bad that I don't have any Industry Specific Qualifications, but I have been working in the IT Education industry for 11 years (since my 19th birthday) so I must have a bit of experience.

 

Although I do have both FITS qualifications :-) they are the most useful thing I have ever implemented.

To me, this says a lot about the MCP certification - ie. what's the point of it if a 5 year old can pass it by watching a few videos and listening to his dad? How much of it does the lad actually understand?

 

That's one of the problems with the Microsoft exams in general - people learning to rote rather than understanding what's going on. Its why a lot of IT people simply don't respect their qualifications.

An MCP is not a MCSE or a MCSA. There are MCP modules which are extremely hard, there are some which are a lot easier.

I think this is a wider problem with exams in general. I generally don't do all that well at exams, as I find it difficult to relate the perfect scenarios they put forth to real life. I also am yet to do a job under strict instruction to sit in silence and not use any sort of reference material to complete the task at hand - it's just totally unrealistic.
