Lightning storm over Lake Garda.

 

The most ridiculous lighting display I've ever witnessed. I set up the camera for 4 second exposures, and it was like shooting fish in a barrel.

Wow, the reflections on the still water are amazing, how long did you have to wait for the water to be like that? Personally, I prefer shots like that where there is a single duck leaving trails through the still water, but those are even harder to come by!

Had a day out at Leighton Moss RSPB reserve yesterday and it was a 'sucessful' visit.

Red deer, water rails, stoats and some early winter migrant arivals.

There was also a family of swans preening themselves on the causeway (a long footpath that allows you to go between the lakes to the south side of the reserve).

They were very obliging for the camera

 

 

 

Oh, and here's one of the peacock butterfly which has decided to hibernate over the top of the stairs in my house! A very good excuse for not painting that for 6 months!

I didn't have to wait at all. It was a dream of a day @enjay. I just pulled my iphone 6 out of my pocket and snapped them!

Swans are often quite willing to have their photo taken, I find. I'm just a bit cautious as I know how strong they can be, and the damage they could do to me or my camera if they take exception or just flap their wings a bit vigorously!

 

Take the photos when they're asleep, it is safer :-)
