PaperCut client startup error (java)

Error in Java launcher. Error occurred while calling main method in Java class biz/papercut/pcng/client/uit/UserClient

 

Getting the above error when students log into a Windows 8.1 computer with mandatory profiles. Any ideas how to fix?

Does it work ok if you run it from the server?

Do you have any clients running other OS's? (is it just a 8.1 issue)

What happens if you run the local cache version instead?

Yes when I run pc-client.exe from the print server it loads with no errors

We have other 8.1 computers where the client loads without errors

I expect its a permissions issue somewhere. Login to the same PC that has the issue with a domain admin account - does the client run ok?

another test is to login to the problem pc with a user with the issue and take a copy of the win folder from the pcclient share. Copy that locally to the PC and run the pc-client.exe file - does it work ok then? if so then it would point to permissions issues with the share on the server for that user.

I was experiencing the same issue on 64bit Windows 7 systems and I found that the PaperCut installer was not populating the lib directory with the necessary files. Copying the files from the server resolved the issue for me.
