michael_mc Posted November 18, 2007 Posted November 18, 2007 Hi all - Have just fixed my login reason 2 error. Changed 3 things (well 4 to include longer timeout but not needed for most) 1 - hosts file - entered the DNS and IP for the Sims server (Hosts located with no extension on the client PC. C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc ) 2 - Entered the IP for the sims server in connect.ini instead of the DNS entry. 3 - Made sure client was using the correct shortcut procedure - not just pulsar or simsload but the full correct shortcut ("C:\Program Files\SIMS\SIMS .net\SIMSLoad.exe" "C:\Program Files\SIMS\SIMS .net\Pulsar.exe) Needs to read this exactly. My client didn't have this right either. 4 - I added the timeout to the connect.ini file on local client. Only as I'm running Sims across a VPN and it needed a little help! Have mine running a treat as we speak! Will be testing on a further machine in the morning but I'm quite hopeful this is the solution for me! Thanks all
desi Posted November 19, 2007 Posted November 19, 2007 Hi, I have the reason 2 error when using a VPN. Can you advice me what the connect.ini file should read? Also what is Hosts and what should I do with it? Thank you in advance for your help. Desi
Butuz Posted November 20, 2007 Posted November 20, 2007 I am getting this error on one workstation and its doing my nut in! Just tried your suggestions michael_mc and no luck Butuz
Jeremy69 Posted November 21, 2007 Posted November 21, 2007 I was getting a reason 2 error on one laptop. It had Norton Security on it. When this was removed the error disappeared.
desi Posted November 21, 2007 Posted November 21, 2007 I solve the issue in the end (with no help from Capita). I changed the connection string so the actual IP address of the server was included and it worked.
PhilNeal Posted November 21, 2007 Posted November 21, 2007 Desi - I would like to follow up your comment to find out exactly when you placed a call and how long you were kept waiting.
