Can't remove old [dead] domain controllor from AD :( Help!

Hello, my backup DC just died (about time) and I've been trying to create another one on a newer server however when attempting to use the same name I get handed the following error message:

So obviously the old computer name still exists in AD and I need to delete it right? well here's what happens when I try:

So now I'm forced to do a little research and come across an article on technet that references this:

Now all is well until step 11 where it asks me to list the server, the only server that shows is my current domain controller which I obviously don't want to remove....

Any ideas?? it really bothers me when there's a tone of articles out there that tell me to "do this" to fix it and nothing is what it's supposed to be!!

For reference:

BHome-Dc1 is the old dead DC that I want to delete from AD

Bhome-Dc2 is the current FQDC

I bet that DC object in AD has accidental deletion prevention thing enabled. Follow these steps and try to delete it from AD again

 

1. Turn on Advance View In AD

2. Right Click the DC and press properties

3. Under Object untick the accidental deletion option.

4. Press ok.

 

Once you have done that do this - Clean up server metadata: Active Directory

That feature to prevent accidental deletion also exists independently in ADSIedit and I believe is on by default. It will even stop a proper demotion with DCpromo. Have a look at the DC object in there.
