Anyone had this issue before? I would've thought there would be zero issues running them autonomously. I am replacing them sometime next year so not worth the money reactivating cloud. Log below:

I work in very low socio economic school where more than half of the students are disengaged from traditional methods of learning. School has asked me to look into VR as a way of re-engaging students in this category and has given me a pretty big budget to play with + a big sized room. I was thinking of ordering some top notch equipment such as 4 65" Screens coupled with 4 PCs and 4 Valve Index headsets or HTC Vives However upon reflection I'm starting to think this is overkill; it's a lot of money for just 4 units. Is there even any games tailored to education for headsets that require such high spec PCs & high cost headsets? Has anyone used something like this to the benefit of learning or student outcomes?

It's not my job to question the process however I do believe we fill that criteria -Our need is to educate our students in the most effective way possible -We fulfill this need by investigating all all our options, as the IT Manager I've been tasked with investigating technology related options

I work in a K-12 School in Australia and have been tasked by my principal to research and prepare a business case for our school to make a leap into artificial intelligence in education. I'm lucky to have a principal that's open to these sorts of ideas and willing to make the investment so I want to make the very most of this opportunity. Responses to any of these three question (if relevant to you) would be much appreciated! Are you using AI in your school? Is there something up and coming that I should keep an eye on? What's your experience with AI in education?

Hello, my backup DC just died (about time) and I've been trying to create another one on a newer server however when attempting to use the same name I get handed the following error message: http://i.imgur.com/zFsP4nk.png So obviously the old computer name still exists in AD and I need to delete it right? well here's what happens when I try: http://i.imgur.com/cYXmPIk.png So now I'm forced to do a little research and come across an article on technet that references this: Fix an Unsuccessful DC Demotion - | Petri IT Knowledgebase Now all is well until step 11 where it asks me to list the server, the only server that shows is my current domain controller which I obviously don't want to remove.... Hi team, Trying to deploy a multi partition image and not sure how to implement a diskpart command file (diskpart.txt) into the autounattend file, I know how to create it but does anyone know which parameter actually enforces it? also where are you supposed to put it? (for the autounattend file to find) The goal is to make sure autounattend creates the 3 partitions I want before applying the image. Anyone ever done something similar to this before? I plan to keep the old DC up as a backup controller, I changed the IP because I've heard client computers are very likely to lose their connections to the domain if the original servers connecting address has changed. Is that incorrect? So connect to the old DCs DNS and use the same one across 2 different DCs? will they replicate off each other on both DCs? what would be the down side of just creating a new one on the new server and having the old one stay as a backup? Should I also do this with DHCP? if so do I create a new one as well and split the scope or just connect to the old one and have them both replicate to each other?

Hi edugeeks! I've just recently added a new Domain Controller to my network (2012 R2) and have already promoted it to the Primary Domain Controller (Transferred FSMO roles & changed IP to the old DC's address etc). Question now is do I transfer the DNS/DHCP server from the (what I now call) backup Domain Controller (2008 R2) or do I create new DNS/DHCP servers on the new DC and have the old ones act as another backup? First time doing this in my 4 years in IT and I'm wondering what's considered best practice for such a situation. Thanks in advance.

I currently have 1 group policy object with about 30 different settings inside it and nothing else, is this the proper way of doing this? I've been told I should have 30 different objects each unique to their own group policy rule. Now upon asking 'why?' I wasn't really given a proper answer by my colleague just that it makes things look a lot cleaner and easier to use in case I need to find something. This is a fair point and I understand it but I know my policy settings inside and out and I'm the only network admin at this particular site so it doesn't effect anyone else. The question that's on my mind now is: Does this effect performance? does having GPO with 30 rules inside it perform better than having 30 GPO's with a single rule in each? To put "performance" into perspective I'm just talking about general computer usability and network login times/GPO related network tasks in general etc

Double & triple checked this (gotta make sure I'm not losing my mind lol) and DHCP was 100% turned off - that being said it was turned off within the server 3 app, is there anywhere else where DHCP can be turned on? (the only other things installed were Deploystudio, Netboot and Workgroup manager) Thanks Michael.

Thanks for your reply Michael, DHCP is running on the domain controller (Windows 2008 r2) Manager claims that the issue resolved itself when turning the Mavericks server off so the DHCP server itself is fine (I'd assume?) Defiantly not another DHCP server on the network. IPs were assigned by DHCP according to the manager. I was thinking earlier, I had mavericks pointing directly to the router (bypassing our inline firewall) - would it be possible for mavericks to some how initiated the router to start acting as a DHCP and giving out IP addresses? Still crazy confused about all this...

Can anyone explain this? I wasn't actually at work on the day this happened but the network manager was sending me screenshots of devices with IPs that are in our DHCP servers exclusion range so it did happen and she claims that once the server was turned off it stopped happening? I have no idea how this might be possible... Additional information: I had installed deploystudio & netboot a day prior to all of this Had configured images etc within the server and imported them via netboot Nothing else that I can explain, the server was fine for the whole day previously during my attendance but currently I'm being blamed for this issue when neither I or anyone else can explain how it's even possible (can't turn it back on to test for obvious reasons). Any advise or theories are appreciated.

I'm currently running a certificate based wireless network (RADIUS server) and I want to automate the process for students in preparation for about 200 new iPads. Basically I want to create a separate network to my own that's unauthenticated and then through that I'll have them go to a local IIS server to download the certificate the need to get on the real network (aka internet access to them). I was thinking of doing this with my WDS server that's already on it's own network, has DHCP installed as well so I could in theory just plug in a WAP and it'll get a DHCP address and start broadcasting. Now for the question: Do you think this WAP broadcasting a completely different network/IP address would effect the other WAPs in the area? I'm worried about co-channel interference more than anything as this is controlled by our Cisco Wireless Lan Controller on the primary network but obviously it won't be doing the same for something it can't see. The WAPs in question are all Cisco's. Thoughts?

O that's right, I didn't use option 60 because dhcp is on another server. Only 1 subnet network wide, although I think you may be onto something - we changed our IP scheme a while ago and didn't bother to update the switches, will be looking into this tomorrow and let you know! What are IP helpers lol @harriuk Yeah I did option 66, and 67 don't remember doing option 60 though?

Just the switch the clients are connected to? or EVERY switch in between the server (which is stored on a VM in another building) and the clients?

Have you tried using DISM? you can (should) run it through either ADK 8.1 or WIN PE 5.0 - that's how I did mine and it worked fine, capture image has always been flakey for me one way or another

Known & unknown but with Admin approval for unknown Pretty sure I do (for network storm purposes), how would this stop more than 3 computers connecting though?

Tried looking this up on technet/other threads on edugeek but can't find anything similar to my situation so curious to see if people have any idea what might be causing this. Basically the first 3 clients I F12 boot go through perfectly fine and appear in the "Pending que" on the wds server itself but everything after that either fails or takes up to 5 times to get going in which case it blue screens anyway.
