So I'm just thinning out our website and just thinking... how awesome would it be to have a NEW website that doesn't use the lancsngfl server...

Any company recommendations? What have you done with yours?

I'm considering trying to make ours whiter, but I don't think white and navy blue look too great together... hmmm. I've done some concept graphics but I'm too scared to upload them straight to the site.

So the website is: Cherry Fold Community Primary School : if you want a gander, give me ideas etcs.

I've heard of primarysites and from what I've seen they do a good job.

Here's a concept banner - assume website has white background...

First off - swap the navy background for a nice, almost white blue like E6F2F8. Makes it much easier on the eyes!

See if you can set the width as a percentage rather than as a narrow central column - will scale better across various screen sizes.

I'm not good enough to design it myself. I need professional help with that ;)

Definitely need a company in to get me started. I'm just going to get together some prices and some examples and then put them to the new head teacher in September.

I used to do websites myself, and have done them manually for various things, including the schools I've worked at, but just not got time any more - and especially since everything's gone down the CMS route... Our current site was done by a company called CMT Tech, but really impressed with Schudio's, which is why we approached them about the ANME site... nice and quick to load, and the back-end's fairly simple and organised - plus they're local to us in Bamber Bridge, and really helpful... They were meant to be at the meeting on Thursday but sadly were unable to attend at the last minute...

I use Primarysite a fair bit as well, they have just swapped onto a new content management ssytem which makes the pages even easier to update. Unfortunately, schools on the old system are not being migrated automatically and would have to pay a charge to move to the new platform.

As an alternative you might want to consider School Website Design, Primary School Website Design, Secondary School Website Design, Prospectus Design, School Mobile Apps who also offer a add-on app which parents can download. The events and news on the website can also be synced automatically with the app.

I am tending to find in primary schools that the website needs to be all-singing, all-dancing for Ofsted, visitors and prospective parents but that existing parents seldom look at the website unless they get a text from school telling them to, or it's a snow day. So this is why we are looking at a school app as another tool for effective communication with parents.

I love our school website. I can 100% recommend the web developers at @VeryPC

They took the time to listen to our requirements, make suggestions based on what they knew would work (and what wouldn't) and worked tirelessly to get our site design how we wanted it. Believe me, that was no easy task as there are so many interested parties in school who all want to have a say. VeryPC's web developers, Dan and Ben, came to visit our school to talk to SLT and we went through many iterations before settling on the final design.

The CMS is bespoke, easy to use, and its fast. So much better than what we were using before.

Since the initial launch we've been through some minor and fairly major updates and BenP has been brilliant. When I look at what we got, and how much we paid, I can't believe how much some of the other companies were quoting for a heavily template based site, with a clunky CMS.

@Joanne PM me if you want to know more

When Ben comes back from holiday he is going to speak to me about websites. Is yours the one with the rabbit? I've had a look :)

Yes, the birthday rabbit. Hopefully you like the site, not just the rabbit! :)
