Focus CL Estate, 1.6, 86,665 on the clock, EX motability, Few little niggles which I need to sort - one of them being it needs A STEREO!!!!! Cheap Tax, Cheap Insurance, Cheap to run.... sted Posted June 24, 2014 Posted June 24, 2014 I may have a ford focus/fiesta stereo from a car that age knocking about somewhere cant remember if I put the factory radio back in my st170 when I sold it or not I know I have one for an 08 fiesta I left the optional Sony I bought in that. It will be if you want to look for one on ebay a ford 6000cd (if you can get the mp3 version great) but it needs to be the 1.8 din version as ford like using ford 6000cd on everything

I had to crack the radio code for it too (I have all the codes for ford radios)... Mines one of these... The CD 6000 version is not too bad actually - never seen an MP3 one though.

It was used in a few special editions iirc like the focus mp3. Might be a dodgy aerial or connection

What about ISO leads ? And would I need an extra bit as my Radio is bigger than others.. ?

And would I need an extra bit as my Radio is bigger than others.. ? do you have stalk mounted controls? but basically what you need assuming the wiring loom is standard is a fascia plate usually available in black/silver to match the dash. Wiring adapter and possibly an aerial adapter. In theory its all pretty much plug and play though stalk adapters I found a nightmare the facia adapter should have a cage with it to fasten the single din radio into Edited June 24, 2014 by sted

I had 2 Focus's as company cars, real workhorse of a motor. 1.6 i'm assuming that's petrol rather than diesel? I had the original Focus with the old Endura (tweaked) diesel in it and later the TDCi one too. Anyway point is they're excellent cars, cheap to run and cheap to get repaired these days as they're not over-complicated with computers etc. Really pleased for you, it's hard to find a nice car that's cheap to run/insure. Good luck with your new car. Quick tip go find yourself a garage you can trust now, i'd suggest something like a one man band, or a local specialist garage. Find one now before you need one that way if you run into a problem you know who to call. Oh and join a breakdown company. If you join via a cashback site like topcashback you get some money back for it too. I joined green flag as it cost me under £10 a month I got £50 cashback for joining and they guarantee to be with you in under an hour. I have one off the top level of cover (the higher one just includes Europe which I don't need) so if I breakdown out of hours I get a hire car for 48 hours etc. Honestly it's the best investment you'll ever make, one breakdown on the motorway and that's more than the cost of breakdown cover for the year. Also check your car insurance as some insurers throw breakdown cover in. The boot button could be a blown fuse or possibly the release solenoid is faulty or dodgy cabling. abillybob Posted June 24, 2014 Posted June 24, 2014 (edited) I would guess that your stereo wouldn't need ISO adapters anyway because of the age of the car you'll probably find they will be your standard ISO connectors that will work in any third party CD Player. What your best to do is at home before you go and buy disconnect and pull out the stereo, drive to halfords, pick one up and try to fit it on the car park shouldn't take you any longer than 10 minutes and buy the appropriate cables if needed then! Regarding your bonnet release cable a major common problem especially with old Vauxhalls and Fords was the boot latch gets stuck (don't ask why) I find that with my girlfriends car, it sounds stupid I know but seriously give it a go! Get someone to push the bonnet down with a bit of force then pull the bonnet latch at the same time it should then open, if not I would say the cable has frayed, snapped or is caught so it may require you having a look under the car but try that first. Iirc failing tailgate release is fairly common on fords might be worth having a look on focusowners.com | for all Club Members ( I think that's the page but its been a while)

Also check your car insurance as some insurers throw breakdown cover in I've got the 1.6 Petrol Zetec SE engine, the ones with improoved performance and reliability... not that the Zetecs had any problems anyway... Shes been stood a while so shes been out of town on a couple of long runs and will be going up North this weekend from Hull so she will get a decent run out but she's already running alot better... Engine is purring alot better now! I've also done an oil change. I've got the service history and every 4000 miles its been serviced, last one being at 84k. I do have breakdown cover and windscreen cover on my insurance... I'm fully comp and it includes just about everything!

I might take the tailgate back apart at some point - I presume the solenoid will be behind the cover so will have a look at the weekend. You will need an ISO adapter to use a stereo with ISO connections: Ford Focus ISO Car Radio Stereo Harness Adapter Wiring Connector | eBay I wouldn't bother with the RDS6000 radio if you can find one. I used to have a Focus about that age and the RDS6000 was awful. Swapping out the head unit made everything sound a lot better plus I could plug my phone into it Edited June 24, 2014 by Norphy

I think this is just the mk4 fiesta but there aren't metal contact plates (looks like 4 or 5 copper strips) on the boot floor where the tailgate meets the inside if so get some meths and clean them - - - Updated - - - Looks lovely! lots you can do to the old Fords as well (add bits from the Ghia spec cars for example, they're cheap as chips these days to purchase and install and there's so many "guides/how-to's" around) - hope you have fun with it! quite a lot of fiesta/mondeo bits fit as well and sometimes the same part for a different car is cheaper
