BBC News - Danger Mouse to return to TV screens

Animated superhero Danger Mouse is to return to children's TV, more than two decades since the popular show ended. The new series, featuring the fearless white rodent secret agent and his trusty sidekick Penfold, is due to be broadcast on CBBC in 2015.

The show originally ran from 1981 to 1992 and Danger Mouse was voiced by actor Sir David Jason.

CBBC controller Cheryl Taylor said the new show would "win over a whole new generation of fans".

Danger Mouse's producers and animators will be FremantleMedia along with Boulder Media.

Ms Taylor said: "Danger Mouse is the last word in debonair and delightfully eccentric heroics," adding, "CBBC is thrilled to be kick-starting their adventures afresh."

What's the bet it'll be CGI?

David Jason still doing it? He's not confirmed from the article, but I hope so!

Having said that, I'm probably not target audience anymore.

Hope he's keeping that car too.

Cooorrrr, DM!!!!

Well it certainly won't be Terry Scott (RIP) voicing Penfold. The fact that it's not going to be a Cosgrove/Hall production also makes me think that it ain't gonna be anywhere near as good as the original. Sometimes you should just never go back. :(

I saw it and was oooh but then the voices :( Without Penfold being Penfold it won't be the same really and DM can only be David Jason otherwise my childhood is ruined.

Oh, no!! Not again! Although that does mean I'd also be able to relive the delight of discovering programming on our ZX81 (1Kb version) all over again.

According to the BBC his eyepatch will be replaced with an "i-patch" which will feature all hi-tech wizardry and his lair will be kitted out with hi-tech gadgets.

So basically like every other rubbish cartoon now.

The BBC also mentioned Dangermouse fighting notorious villains, such as Duckula..........yes, that's the first villain I think of with Dangermouse too, not the Baron
