CHR1S Posted June 15, 2014 Posted June 15, 2014 Yes its another one of those! I was about to hit buy on a Oppo Find 7 (QHD) Version X9077 - Find 7 Alas it wont work on O2 LTE 800 4G... What other options in the sub £400 area do I have that tick similar boxes? Would love a one+one but have no invite
CHR1S Posted June 15, 2014 Author Posted June 15, 2014 So there is a version - Oppo Find 7 X9076 which is for the international market, but I cant find it for sale
ellsandell Posted June 15, 2014 Posted June 15, 2014 How about the OnePlus One? If you are looking at Android. 1
CHR1S Posted June 15, 2014 Author Posted June 15, 2014 @plexer The a model does not have the UHD screen however I might just compromise @ellsandell - do you have a spare invite?
Arthur Posted June 15, 2014 Posted June 15, 2014 Is that it? No. The 7a is the lower-spec version of the Find 7. It does support LTE Band 20 though. www.gsmarena.com/oppo_find_7a-6215.php
Arthur Posted June 15, 2014 Posted June 15, 2014 (edited) If you can stretch to £459.99, you could get an LG G3 which is also Quad HD. Would love a one+one but have no invite If you can wait until late June... http://forums.oneplus.net/threads/2014-q2-production-update-updated-may-6.6854 Edited June 15, 2014 by Arthur
fredbayker Posted June 16, 2014 Posted June 16, 2014 You could wait for the HTC One e8 which should hit our shores soon. It's supposed to be cheaper than the M8 but still has LTE. not sure which bands it supports though.
CHR1S Posted June 16, 2014 Author Posted June 16, 2014 I can get an M8 for sub £400, seems my phone of choice right now.
LoyalHeretic Posted June 16, 2014 Posted June 16, 2014 The Nexus 5 is still a bargain, and a very good phone for the money, i'm not sure if the deal is still on but it was available in Carphone Warehouse for ~£250 a week or two ago. I did a little research for my dad recently and the new Huawei Ascend P7 looks awesome for the money. Huawei Ascend P7
CHR1S Posted June 16, 2014 Author Posted June 16, 2014 It looks nice however its specced lower than an S4.
fredbayker Posted June 16, 2014 Posted June 16, 2014 It doesn't fare brilliantly in the benchmarks either. Decent spec though but the processor/chipset isn't the best.
fredbayker Posted June 16, 2014 Posted June 16, 2014 How about the the updated moto g. That has lte. I'm in the market for a dual sim that does LTE. Still waiting for a device to appear.
CHR1S Posted June 16, 2014 Author Posted June 16, 2014 How about the the updated moto g. That has lte. I'm in the market for a dual sim that does LTE. Still waiting for a device to appear. Still very poor spec and does not list UK LTE frequencies.
tmcd35 Posted June 16, 2014 Posted June 16, 2014 I can get an M8 for sub £400, seems my phone of choice right now. I've been rocking the M8 for a couple of weeks now... I think it might be better than the iPhone<\Whisper> 1
lionsl2005 Posted June 16, 2014 Posted June 16, 2014 Find 7a White - OppoStyle Europe Is that it? Ben Looks Interesting.......
Outride Posted June 16, 2014 Posted June 16, 2014 Have you looked into blu phones? Very amazing. Sleek, and varied across the board. They have every price range from cheap to expensive. Hardware most rum adreno 305 (lower end. Yeah. That's a pretty advanced and good processor for a mobile device) or snapdragon. Processor speeds vary a bit with some around 1.2Ghz, and easily overclockable once rooted. They all come unlocked (if you're not sure look into amazon or eBay, the blu company has their own seller account, at least on amazon that I am aware of). Also they use standard to high end cameras for both front and back, again depending on price range. Plus the screen sizes are easily able to give you what you're looking for. With of course dual-sim (whoever had mentioned they wanted one) Software wise most run jelly bean I believe on 4.2 or above. Not fully sure on that so if I am mistaken don't take it out on them. My mother and I wanted to give my step father a gift for his birthday. Jokingly we looked for high end expensive and amazing phones. We took an interesting time on it and we came across this company. And we bought one. AmaAmazing and it was about $150. Can't remember which one. After months of him using it and all of us being blown away by the phones capabilities, I took a wrong turn and messed with he kernel once rooted. The company replied to a support email I sent in a few hours and within 24hrs we had the problem fixed. Not long ago he upgraded and bought he "Life Pure" and in all honesty the phone has outperformed any phone and even some laptops at three times the price. Long post guys but this company really is amazing, but unlike apple or many others out there, they haven't been noticed as much. Its a shame really, if more people took a step back and looked into things, such as specs not just reviews or who has what, do a little research, and not bandwagon, you'll be amazed what you can get for the same or even lower price, and much more cutting edge and beautiful technology. Not hating in any company. I own an Lg Optimud F3 plus an iPod touch 5th gen. Hopefully a "blu" soon too hope I helped Here's a link to their website (Into Blu) Note: no. They are not the electronic cigarette s company. 1
CHR1S Posted June 16, 2014 Author Posted June 16, 2014 @Outride thanks for the write up but I don't think any of their range really ticks any of my boxes.
CHR1S Posted June 16, 2014 Author Posted June 16, 2014 Looks Interesting....... If I could wait for a One+ I would go for that, however I have a 10% code for Oppo so despite its size its still a good £100 cheaper than the M8. I think I have made my mind up..... until someone else recommends me another phone
CHR1S Posted June 16, 2014 Author Posted June 16, 2014 Well, after further reading the One+ does not support band 20 800mhz LTE, (O2 voda etc) so the Find 7a was my purchase at lunch
Arthur Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 (edited) @CHR1S. Probably too late, but the international version of the Find 7 is now available to pre-order from Oppo's website for €479 (£382.62). It will work on the O2 and Vodafone LTE networks and ships early next month. http://europe.oppostyle.com/find-7/98-find-7-astro-black.html http://europe.oppostyle.com/find-7/99-find-7-white.html Edited June 17, 2014 by Arthur 1
CHR1S Posted June 18, 2014 Author Posted June 18, 2014 I went with the 7a mate, couldn't justify the extra cost just for the screen when the 7a screen is so good anyway.
Gibbo Posted June 18, 2014 Posted June 18, 2014 How about the the updated moto g. That has lte. I'm in the market for a dual sim that does LTE. Still waiting for a device to appear. I've just picked up one of these, £80 from the Orange (EE) store with the public sector discount. Great bargain phone.
