Any alternatives to Citrix

Looking for a alternative to CC4 anywhere/Citrix as it is the route we want to go down, but we need to know of any alternatives and their cost?

 

Can anyone give me any feedback, as I am struggling to find anything of value on line....

Citrix What? XenApp, XenDesktop or XenServer? Its like saying an alternative to Microsoft

Still asleep, Xen desktop I presume, looking to provide 80 concurrent virtual desktops via a browser from inside (staff BYOD) and outside school?

You could do it with either XenApp or XenDesktop. XenApp is like Terminal server, XenDesktop is a dedicated VM for the user.

 

Have a look at VMware View. Its not as good as Citrix, but cheaper. Also there is the out of the box Microsoft solution?

We use Ericom - Ericom - Application & VDI Delivery, RDP Acceleration, Terminal Emulation Solutions

 

Good and cheaper than Citrix.

Can't believe i was about to post the exact same thing this morning. How much is your current cc4 solution costing you?

The question is, do you need full virtual desktops or is a shared environment acceptable? Reason I ask is that if the latter, I'd simply recommend using RDS on Server 2012, with RDS Gateway running for the web access.

If you have the infrastructure to do it, i'd recommend Microsoft's free remote Desktop App.

Cheaper and similar option I've looked at for CC4 here is vdi in a box .. Now owned by Citrix

We use 2X here, it runs on top of MS RDS.

+ 1 for 2x software, we use it for remote access gateway service, lots of features and has proved very reliable and has reasonable licensing and support costs.
