Thats so sad. Young Ones was my fav show back in the day. Also Bottom and The New Statesman and his recurring role in Blackadder.

Sad sad news :(

I had the great privilege of watching him and Ade Edmonson do Hooligans Island live many years back. It took me days to stop hurting from all the laughing.

Really sad news. That's my childhood all over. Young ones, Bottom, Blackadder, Drop Dead Fred to name a few. Bottom Live was absolutely awesome. He seemed to live twice as fast as everyone else, so it feels like he's died at 112 years old - a fair innings!

I like simple, slapstick (sticks, pans, clicket blats, anything really!) humour and he appealed to that in the best possible way.

Such very very sad news love everything he has ever done on telly and film. Let's hope GOLD put all his series on telly soon as tribute.

Ade Edmondson:

Ade Edmondson has paid tribute to his comedy partner Rik Mayall who died aged 56.

Edmondson said that he loved working with Mayall, who he acted with on classic British comedy series Bottom and The Young Ones.

The actor said in a statement: ‘There were times when Rik and I were writing together when we almost died laughing.

‘They were some of the most carefree stupid days I ever had, and I feel privileged to have shared them with him.

‘And now he’s died for real. Without me. Selfish b*****d.’

Really sad, still watch these to cheer myself up. Grew up watching him and Ade smashing each other with frying pans. He shall be missed

Sad news indeed when someone dies :(

Though, IMHO, I didn't like his style of comedy and probably one of the few who didn't actually like The Young Ones, or Bottom. (

Loved Blackadder though!

It's very sad news. Rik was an amazing performer and had superb comic timing. Plus, the fact the he and Ade could recycle the same jokes and still make it funny was brilliant!

Listening to Bad News on spotify and it's making me chuckle while I work!
