Mine was an LotR themed meal (Mme LeMarchand is a big fan) and, despite the printed menu, she never realised what treasure the dessert concealed:

SMAUG’S HORDE: Chocolate cups filled with an exotic fruit cocktail of pomegranate rubies, ingots of golden plum, slivers of kiwi-fruit jade, and blueberry sapphires - lightly dusted with caster sugar snow from the Lonely Mountain and jealously guarded by a dragon folded from paper in the Easterling manner. Who knows what treasures you may find?

Yeah, I don't get the public proposal thing. Surely a proposal is a very personal thing? A friend of mine proposed on national radio on the Isle of Man during TT week...

I "proposed" last week (we had already decided to marry), but still wanted to do.

She said she didnt want anything public, or expensive. In the end got this....

Love Hearts Trinket Box

With Marry Me and message on the wrapper. I was worried to cheesy, but made her cry (in a good way)

That's sweet! (No pun intended).
