The whole thing is a nonsense. FIFA are so desperate not to offend any of the South American countries and for the main ones to remain in the tournament as long as possible.

He should have had a lifetime ban. End of story.

Liverpool, if they have any integrity at all, will terminate his contract, at whatever cost.

Oh, Sky Sports said it would mean he couldn't be transfered if he is banned from all footballing activity.

Yeah I think there is some debate about the meaning of 'footballing activity' (even within FIFA) whether is means just playing any football or if it covers transfers. There, hopefully, will be some clarification soon.

I think he can, but the ban goes with him.

The ban covers all administrative actions as well. He can't sign new contracts so he's stuck at Liverpool. He's also got a stadium ban so can't watch any matches. They've completely handcuffed him and it's still too lenient.

"The player Luis Suarez is banned from taking part in any kind of football-related activity (administrative, sports or any other) for a period of four months."

Under the terms of the ban, Suarez is prohibited from entering the confines of any stadium during the period of his suspension.

But Liverpool would not be prevented from selling the former Ajax player this summer should they decide to offload him to another club.

This is what's on the BBC site

Daily Telegraph Football Correspondent Henry Winter on Twitter:

"Fifa update on Suarez: "A transfer can happen this summer." So "Four-month ban on all football activity" does not preclude transfer."

Liverpool should sell him asap.

According to Radio 5, apologies if this has already been said: Suarez has a ban for 9 international matches. He also has a separate 4 month ban from any footballing activity. The bans start immediately and he cannot play if decides to appeal... so in the unlikely event that his appeal is successful, he could have a legal pop at FIFA

They have been quite clever. He can't evn associate with his team for the rest of the tournament or go in the stadium to watch their matches.

Fun fact...players are 38x more likely to be bitten by Suarez than a shark.

According to The Times today the chances of being bitten by Suarez and a designated "shark infested area" are roughly the same.

England out. USA through. Scary.

I've always thought that if 'soccer' (quaint term) ever took off in a big way over there, then we can all watch out.

The resources they have, the population to choose from and their will to succeed at whatever they do.

I don't think Belgium will have an easy game, but I think they'll win.

Been doing a lot of thinking lately. Looking at my character etc. I've realised I've been quite selfish. My family have suffered the most. So I'm gonna do the honourable thing. I am sacrificing ALL World Cup matches for the WHOLE day today and instead spend some time with them. What a great guy I am! :D

Even Suarez's grandmother, Lila Piriz Da Rosa, has had her say: "Everyone knows what they've done to Luis. They wanted him out of the World Cup. Perfect, they did it. They chucked him out of there like a dog."

Yeah...a dog that goes round biting people....

Are all Uruguayans mental and think biting is a perfectly reasonable action to take or has Suarez managed to surround himself with the nation's supply?
