unixman_again Posted June 4, 2014 Posted June 4, 2014 A ticket came in "Computer working but nothing on monitor or projector". Without even going, I knew what the problem would be. The rooms in this building are fitted with VGA splitters from The Dodgy VGA Splitter Company Inc. Of the seven rooms, I have replaced three over the last 12 months. It is the box of electronics which fails, not the power supply. Anyway, off I trot with a new VGA splitter of a more reliable make. I unplug the power supply from the splitter and then I pull it out of the wall. See the result. I think I was lucky, especially as I hadn't turned the switch off. I think I shall make this my new policy.

johnat1121 Posted June 4, 2014 Posted June 4, 2014 I would unplug them all immediately however you would have been kinda ok as the RCD would kick if you were to come into contact with the live wires (Ive done it before )

crc-ict Posted June 5, 2014 Posted June 5, 2014 How about running a bead of superglue around the join between the front and back shells as an emergency interim measure? Terrible design flaw though - should have been bonded at the factory I would have thought.
Garacesh Posted June 5, 2014 Posted June 5, 2014 Yep, we've had some of those too. One of them, the Earth pin (oh, which by the way, was plastic. So useless! Shouldn't be legal to have no earth..) had melted off and gotten stuck inside the socket. Lovely. I'd advise you get rid of 'em all, before they cause some serious issues.
