tmcd35 Posted June 4, 2014 Posted June 4, 2014 Drop Lady Gaga Judas in there for more up to date controversy..... My cusion is lead singer for a death metal group called "Consecration", the do a song called "Gut the Priest"... (not my cup of tea).
Marci Posted June 4, 2014 Posted June 4, 2014 Miserable git here...! Presume you've pointed out to management that they'll need to be applying for the licensing rights to use the pieces of music for public performance, seeing as the use of them in this context isn't educational and therefore won't be covered by the standard schools licensing...? And if they're sync'd to a powerpoint then you'll need separate negotiations for synchronisation license.
X-13 Posted June 4, 2014 Posted June 4, 2014 And if they're sync'd to a powerpoint then you'll need separate negotiations for synchronisation license. Didn't know about that... got a source I can throw at them?
Marci Posted June 4, 2014 Posted June 4, 2014 (edited) Synchronisation: The pairing of music with a visual. For example, when a piece of music is used in a Feature Film, the music is synchronised with the film footage. The terms ‘Synchronisation right’ and Synchronisation licence’ apply to the licensing of music in this way. Common examples of ‘Sync Licensing’ include music licensed for use in TV advertising, feature films and computer games. PRS Glossary of Terms Powerpoints are constituted a visual. Synchro license is negotiated on a per tune, per artist, per publisher rate. There is no blanket license to cover it - you have to go cap in hand to the rights holders themselves. Every individual tune needs renegotiating for every use of it where the "visual" has changed. Edited June 4, 2014 by Marci

StevieM Posted June 4, 2014 Posted June 4, 2014 MFL just HAS to be 'Foux du Fa Fa' by Flight of the Conchords! Pure genius!
StevieM Posted June 4, 2014 Posted June 4, 2014 Can we get back on topic please. Didn't realise we'd gone off topic! One of our teachers used 'Foux du Fa Fa' in their class assembly about France, along with 'Ca Plane Pour Moi' by Plastic Bertrand and 'Tour de France' by Kraftwork.
PEO Posted June 10, 2014 Author Posted June 10, 2014 Hey Thank you - if it went off topic talking about licensing. Thanks for you help
