Yeah always check the insurance group before buying a car the lower the number the better. When I purchased my first car it was a Renault Clio 1.2 Campus (Insurance Group 1) and it was £2400 per year and even more if I was to pay monthly. Women used to get half the insurance premiums but now the insurance on my girlfriend 1.2 Corsa is around the £2000 mark.

It doesn't normally matter that much on age either, an old boss of mine who is 29 has just passed and bought himself a 1.6 Astra, the insurance on that is £3800 per year!

It does get better though I'm on my third year driving and my insurance for a 1.8 Honda Civic Type S is £460 Fully comp it's the first year that's the hardest my girlfriend has so far spent around £6000 on her driving for the first year so you better get your moneys up ;) But enjoy and don't hit anything! :)

Possibly also the make / model of the car , maybe they dont see that as a boy racer type of car where it can be modified into a sports type car and go a lot faster etc etc

Just guessing here - so could be wrong - other factors are generally type of job, marital status and a long list of other things

Wow would you mind sending a link to the same website you got that off? 6,000 miles is low though (for me) so maybe that's it I easily do 20,000 a year and my girlfriend does more :)

Welcome to the world of driving! Just remember everyone else on the road is an idiot :) Expect the unexpected :)

Insurance is coming down slowly. Age does play a role, but also your postcode irrelevant how it's stored at night.

its on Confused.com

I'm 26, and married and have 2 children under 16. All included in the quote.

Ill add more mileage see what happens.

Very good. It does have a lot to do with where you live and depending on the crash statistics near your area, I have Kidderminster, Wolverhampton, Telford all around me which pushes up my insurance premiums to extreme levels (or did) there was a map posted on here not long ago which showed the amount of points on people license on average and except for Bridgnorth all the other places where in the red!

My aunt was driving around telford a few months back and 5 kids decided to chuck eggs at her car when she stopped to clean it off two of them stole the vehicle... she reported this to the police obviously, I suppose it does depend where you live and the amount of miles! It's a shame as Bridgnorth is a lovely little town it's some of the areas around it!

Enjoy anyway buddy!

On my quote the "Drive like a girl", ignore it as they require you to install a black box! Still Tesco is cheap enough..!

- @abillybob I have Hull around and next to me. 'Nuff said lol
